Has NAXJA ever been attacked by Chrysler?

It's Ford being dicks as they have been in the past with fan sites. Gm doesn't pull that crap. I have been a member on Chevytalk.com for almost 8 years now. GM has actually listed them on their corporate site as a fan site, not try to extort them for cash. Hence another reason Ford can eat a dick and their slow ass mustangs.

Hello and Thanks for bringing this issue to our attention. Without question, Ford enthusiasts are extremely important to us. Their enthusiasm and loyalty are part of our heritage and part of what's going to keep us moving forward.

Recently, there was an item posted stating that Ford was requesting TheRangerStation.com to turn over its URL to Ford and pay $5,000. We'd like the opportunity to share some additional facts that might make a difference in how you think about this situation.

In its communications, TheRangerStation.com stated that Ford was making them change the name of their site and pay $5,000. What was not mentioned was that TheRangerStation.com was selling counterfeit Ford-brand merchandise on the site. As a company, Ford has a responsibility to protect our brand and a responsibility to our licensees. We cannot let something like that pass. (The counterfeit goods have been removed from the website since TheRangerStation.com got the letter from Ford's attorney.)

Please know that Ford takes no joy in pursuing enthusiast sites. Since there are a number of sites out there with Ford vehicles as part of their names or URLs, some people have asked if they should be concerned. Ford has been and continues to be willing to license its trademarks for use by enthusiast groups and enthusiast websites. Requesting a license is done easily by contacting [email protected]. To request a license to produce or sell branded merchandise bearing Ford's trademarks, contact [email protected].

We hope you will share this information with anyone who is concerned. We deeply appreciate our fans’ dedication and enthusiasm and want to be able to work together with all of our supporters to tell the Ford story.

:nono:Does this mean you need those shirts of mine back?

What a lot of people forget is this, what if it was YOUR copyright that was being infringed? What if your hard work, swear, money and tears went into the enterprise that was represented in YOUR logo? These very same laws are designed to protect us “little guys” as much as they protect large corporations. If somebody was using MY logo on a shirt or in some other manner they would do it MY way or not at all; it’s MINE and I don’t want it misrepresented.
It may not have a Ford logo on it, but when that shoe is on the other foot it doesn’t fit so well.

No, you knucklehead... A paying club member(me) accessed them and gifted them to you... :laugh3:

Wow Grimm! Smackdown Ron night is it? I must have missed it on my calender.

As I remember, because of their complexity in setting up, and their tax advantages, most LLCs are used for businesses which turn a profit. In many States, you can incorporate as a "Not for Profit" and get the same shielding advantages with a fraction of the paperwork.

As for "PERIOD" boy, we are not talking about for profit businesses, we are talking about "not for profit" Fan sites and if it is the Trademark holders obligation to give these sites the smackdown for using the Trademark of the product they are a fan of.

Jeff's position is that it is absolutely the obligation of a Trademark holder to persue their Fans. I say it's not their "obligation" and gave examples where the Trademark holder has not only allowed, but encouraged that supposed "violation".

Actually, you have it backwards. A LLC is extremely easy to set-up when comparing to non profit. To obtain legal, not for profit status, requires mountains of paperwork. There are plenty of shady company's that claim non profit, but have never actually registered and been licensed as that. Some have every intention of becoming so, but the amount of red tape is prohibitive.

I have set-up both a non profit organization, as well as several LLC's.

If everyone would read all of Jeff's post's, and the response from the Ford rep, this thread would have been over a few pages.

Ford HAS to do what it has done. Its the way our system is set-up. I have also had to pursue damages caused by other people using a trademark I have registered. It wasnt for malicious reasons, but simply to protect my intelectual property.

Isnt NAXJA a registered trademark?

It would be interessting to know what the amount is for a fan/enthusiast site to license the Ford logo.

Token amount to keep the courts happy or a bunch of money for the Ford balance sheet? I'd hope they have a different rate for dealing with sites that sell Ford branded merchandise.

The local club I am in here use to be called "Jeeps of North Texas." Apparently, Jeep didn't like the use of the word "Jeeps" and requested the name be changed.

"Jeep" is a trade mark for Jeep. Jeep requested JNT to change its name because of trade mark violations. Jeep also provide support during the name change and provided the new club LSJC with new t-shirts with the club logo. The club had to change ist by-laws and make a few other small changes. Everything worked out and I can asure you Jeep reads this forum. That is why the club officers are trying to keep the forum clean. You never know who is reading this forum.
