Grin's WJ Build Thread

Pretty creative trim of the front bumper skin. That WJ is a bit more appealing I do agree.......

I'll likely have the hot knife out next week on my bumper, not sure if I'll go that far or not, but if I do I think I'll use the stock H4 fogs and wiring for some offroad lights...

Resist what? A witty remark? Or playing with said "swollen?

Uh...resist commenting on Grin's, uh, "build" shall we say, being less, uh..."swollen" so to speak. The entendre writes itself, I'm just here to prompt the process.

take your flacid jihad from my thread, hiJACKer!

eeeewwww. :puke:

just in intermission... I may get to work later today!;)

the fam was up in denver this evening, so I got a little work done... I had picked up some front tow hooks on craigslist for cheap, but turned out the buyer was confused and they were for WK/XK, not WJ. :gonnablow Spent more than I should have on some fairly slick clevis mounts instead from saguaro4x4 in Cortez:

However, they didn't come with any plating for inside the "frame", and I thought it needed it, rather than trusting the laminated sheetmetal of the unibody... I had a couple of old brackets lying around, I think from an XJ front bumper, that fit perfectly (once I drilled another hole and got rid of one of the nuts...):

slapped the front bumper back on, and mounted the clevises:

and started the first round of trimming:

tomorrow, I start on the rear lift...:sunshine:

Chris, those brackets are the factory inner reinforcement brackets for a set of XJ tow hook brackets. Nice job re-purposing them!

Nice! Doesn't that first picture of the clevis mount, where it appears as though the mount is sitting on a bed of weld material, look sketchy to you? I have a piece at work made out of stainless where one joint is just fill in weld as that appears to be, and it broke easily. Just askin.
