Grin's WJ Build Thread

Those Clayton arms look to be pure beefines. I've seen their llongarm kit for a ZJ, the one that includes an entire new subframe. I swear that kit weighed more than the rest of the ZJ.
 
they weigh a friggin shit-ton. Seriously, these beasts are so much heavier than the cast I-beam long-arms I had on the XJ that its funny. I think I opened up my hernia moving the four rear arms the other day, since they are still shrinkwraped together!
 
got a couple of 33's mounted and balanced (thanks, Nick!) and the front is now sprung on the axle, no jackstands... a little trimming may be in order ;), but here's the front at what I think will be ride height:

just a hair. :) The axle will be coming forward maybe another 1-1.5", and I don't think its quite centered right now. The front is easier to trim that the rear... similarly, I'll likely push the rear back an inch or so. Stock wheel base is 106, I think I'll be 108-109 when all is said and done.
 
Pretty....... Lotsa money into that one..... but definitely not doing it for me. That body style, when lifted and armored just looks odd to me. The body is too rounded I suppose.

And what's up with that goofy LED light bar?......... Can an LED bar light up a trail like a good HID set up?

Well, you have lost all credibility with me. You used to go on about how you never understood why I liked ZJs. They "look funky, you sit weird in them, I don't like the feel, etc". And now you DD one!

I still don't really care for the ZJ..... but it's a far-sight better than DD'ing that 1-ton Dually up and down the gazillion concrete expansion joints along 470....... And the seats do suck in the ZJ. :moon:


Yeah, so you post up some pics..... none of which show the LED bar...... :rolleyes:
 
If I didn't keep pokin' at ya, you wouldn't have anything constructive to do all huddled up with your Mac..... :moon:

Impressive light set up though....... Just think what kinda cool rock lights you could rig up with small versions of those.......:thumbup:
