Thats cool, I take it it was stock like that and not another axle off another rig . I wish mine had come with one lol. I guess after 93 they all did and that is why they say to look for them after that year. Maybe they were like the d44 where select models had them etc... good to know in anycase that some earlier ones had it .
Oh come on, the one I had in my first XJ (in 1997?) was vac disco, and it worked flawlessly... but the check valve under the hood went bad, and we went wheeling for a week in San Felipe having to pop the hood & suck or blow thru the line the check valve was on to engage/disengage the front axle. Still easier than James' (jeprovo) method of crawl-under-the-rig, though!
yah that is a disco front end. Vaccum operated 4wd. It takes about 10 minutes to fix the problem. there are write-ups all over the net about it, very simple to do!
I havent yet seen a vac front axle work properly...
