Got a ticket for rolling-WTF any ideas?

LOL. they did a urine test for internal bleeding and I am sure alcohol and drugs too. I did have 2 cups of coffee that morning for breakfast so maybe they should consider outlawing coffee.

I love super troopers

If coffee and guns are outlawed I will become an outlaw.

I cannot live without coffee and I would not be happy at all if they outlawed guns.

And just remember it will get much worse, once we all start making fun of you for your street roll!!!!

The ticket is bs, you didn't make an unsafe turning maneuver. That's like citing one of the people with the faulty drive by wire accelerators Toyota put out for speeding. A mechanical failure caused the accident which could have happened on a stock vehicle just the same as it did on yours.

Funny side note - I work at a desk job where no one else wheels or can even change their own oil or brakes - One woman was saying "well thats your problem, those big tires are too tall" I was like no, but adding RAM assist with toe out, a bad leaf bushing, air in the rear brake lines, tie rod roll from the ram assist, and the rear brakes locking up on wet pavement while hydro planing will do it.

Maybe if the tires were "too tall" then you would have gotten some sort of citation for that instead.

The ticket is just the state trying to make a quick buck anyway they can. Just contest it in writing because I'm pretty sure it will be tossed out because I don't see how they can cite you for something that they did not witness. It would be a different story if there was another vehicle involved and lets say you hit them and you get a ticket for failure to maintain your lane or unsafe driving, or if there were reports that you were driving wreck less and then the accident happened and they ticket you bases on that but in your case none else was involved, you weren't speeding and it was just an unfortunate accident.

I have no idea why, I hydro planed and slammed on my brakes then the rear brakes locked up and and I skidded out .

Hydroplaneing is nothing more than going too fast for conditions, period. If it is wet, you run big tires, and have a high center of gravity, you need to slow down.

This might piss you off, but in my opinion, it wasn't an accident, it was operator error. An accident is when something happens that was not reasonably under your control.

Its like around here when the first snow hits each year, we call it Darwin Day. All the Florida and California peeps get in accidents and complain that the car didn't stop like they told it to, so there must be something wrong with the car.

wouldnt that make just about every "accident" half accident and half operator error? I know when the guy hit me at a stop light he was still under control of his vehicle although obviously driving skill was obviously not something under his immediate control.

I bet you didn't think your thread would go this far did ya Jon :wow:

I was just in shock to see a ticket and I was hoping some others would post up their personal experience with getting a ticket after rolling on pavement.

Old man always taught me to never hit the brakes hydroplaning. Also never use cruise control in the rain and if ya hit black ice let go of the wheel.. never hit black ice so not sure how that works out. Although I can recall a near miss head on with my dad driving up in Tahoe from some black ice.

And that's ..well ya that's it haha. At the end of every day, all that matters is silverback is still here... Oh and I guess you too Jon

because when you think about it there is no weight on the rear tires when you braked hard and when the tires caught it was certainly gonna grab.

Ok I'm done.. back to trolling.

"Whether the car is equipped with front disc and rear drums, or has four-wheel discs, hydraulic pressure should be reduced to the rear brakes for several reasons. The single most important reason is because even under moderate braking, natural weight transfer reduces weight on the rear tires and moves the weight to the front. This unloads the rear tires, which makes it much easier to lock up the rear brakes in hard braking. Once the rear brakes are locked, the tires skid, which immediately causes loss of control.
Since we deal with modified cars, even something as simple as adding taller rear tires can have a drastic effect on braking performance. Taller tires increase the distance between the rear axle centerline and the ground, increasing the leverage of the brakes over the tires. This was most evident with Tim Moore’s car on the 0-100-0 shootout last month when, even though he carefully set the brake balance for his shorter set of tires, the taller drag slicks caused a rear brake lockup problem. Moore solved the problem by reducing the rear brake pressure by several hundred psi.

I am going to be adding a dodge van ram MC and a wilwood proportioning valve inline to the rear. I am also planning on adding a rear traction bar, is there anything else you guys can think of that will help with clearing up the braking issue and weight transfer issue?

I've always used this thread as a good place to start MC research over again.

Oh great, Cal's nut-warmer is in on this too.

People die everyday on the roads. Some of them through no fault of their own, some people do it to themselves. Shit happens, plain and simple.

What about banning trucks?

Distracted drivers on their phone cause accidents too, should we ban cell phones in vehicles? Banning their use by drivers hasn't done anything to fix the problem.

I could go on and on.....

Who said the B-word? Not I. But go on ahead and act like I said something I didnt. Typical.

Also, did you fix that poor mans fence?
J/K

NO but as soon as I crawled out of the jeep the security guard in his truck drove up and told me I couldn't be here and that I had to move the vehicle immediately. I was pretty much speechless.

Driver error for sure. Not to say he isn't a good driver but obviously his rig reacted in a way he wasn't expecting. Slowing down and getting some seat time with the new steering was what he needed. We all learn the hard way sometimes.

I hope they take your licence away...... so bring your jeep and leave it with me.....
