Got a ticket for rolling-WTF any ideas?

no i meant hydro assist

yes im fully aware of how it works. i also said it was my own opinion. everyone has their own

Wow, thank god we got jpcherokeekid to set us straight. Thanks to you I will never drive anything but a fully stock well maintained vehicle on the road ever again. Maybe you can come by and inspect everyone's rig and let us know what you think in person?

no need to be a smart ass and get your panties in a twist. just trying to educate and promote some common sense and think about safety. thankfuly no one was seriously hurt and he had a cage. i wish blondjohn the best.

No panties in a twist here, just stating my opinion.

We all spend hours and hours getting our rigs road worthy and understand the risk of driving a modified rig on the street. The majority of the NAXJA rigs I see at events are well built and maintained. Parts fail, parts wear out, just like every other vehicle on the road. That is what insurance is for. Everyday is a risk just leaving your house.

Maybe, just maybe, you might fall off that high horse you are on and break your neck. I'm not trying to single anyone out but maybe sitting on a high horse is dangerous and you should think twice before doing it.

Yup, just cause it was an 'accident' doesnt mean you dont get your pecker slapped.

If some idiot ricer had an accident due to waaaay too much wheel camber, but he had to replace a windshield, does that make his punishment enough? No, you modified your vehicle, accept the consequences.

Shit like this will lead US regulations to something like NZ regulations, and it will be nobodys fault but our own.

You earned that broken windshield and tow, no reason to think of it as punishment. This ticket and any consequences of such is your punishment.

Oh great, Cal's nut-warmer is in on this too.

People die everyday on the roads. Some of them through no fault of their own, some people do it to themselves. Shit happens, plain and simple.

What about banning trucks?

Distracted drivers on their phone cause accidents too, should we ban cell phones in vehicles? Banning their use by drivers hasn't done anything to fix the problem.

I could go on and on.....

I am not trying to avoid the consequences by any means. I see the destruction that occurred to my jeep as punishment for emergency braking and I am thankful that is all that happened and not more destruction to me, the jeep, or any innocent bystanders. The ticket adds insult to injury but I am accepting it, but it was just as surprising to me to see the ticket as hitting my brakes then all of sudden winding up upside down on the side of the road. It happened in the blink of an eye it seemed.

I understand the implications of my actions. Trust me guys I feel guilty as hell for the roll-thinking back that I could have rolled into someone else and killed them makes me feel terrible. I had hit the brakes hard in emergency stops in the jeep in the past and it would just stop, the jeep would not fishtail the rear end forward and then get backwards etc.... This was the first time ever that the rear end kicked out. But rear brakes locking up is something that happens to stock vehicles as well - due to a bad caliper, crappy brakes, or oil inside the Drums, etc . My brakes were all new within the last 10 months, but I would not be surprised if a caliper seized up temporarily or something of that nature.

The high COG of a lifted rig more than likely caused the rollover whereas a stock car might not have done so but maybe just continued to spin out. This was the intersection of rear brakes locking up and on a lifted rig . Like I said before I've had my honda accord rear brakes lock up once on a wet road going the speed limit as well in an emergency stop. Accidents happen to good people even if they maintain their rig. I've been driving this same jeep for 8 years, maybe more, without a problem, wet or dry roads. I have researched every modification and usually follow Goatmans advice from many pirate threads and countless build threads on pirate and NAXJA over the years

But I was shocked about seeing a ticket come in the mail - and I think most folks that have no had this happen to them before would be too. hopefully others reading this will not be surprised when it comes in the mail after a destructive pavement roll.

My own point of view said it was adding insult to injury. Its not like I did not learn my lesson, I did. And I will surely never hit the brakes hard again in an emergency maneuver- and I am replacing the entire brake system. I already replaced the rear pads and calipers and will be swapping the booster and master as well as putting a wilwood proportioning valve to the rear brakes, in addition to dropping the rear down another 1" after dropping the front down to roughly a 3" coil.

Ive heard of lockright lunchbox lockers failing on C clip axles like a dana 35 on the freeway spitting out the shaft at 65 mph with the tire on it(happened to my old neighbor, scary) , brake calipers falling off after shoddy brake jobs at a shop didnt torque them to spec, control arms falling off due to bad welds on a LCA bracket ripping off on the freeway, and much more. Stuff happens even when you think everything is 100% fine.

I think it is clear that we need to lock BlondJohn in his room and all of our children will be safe to walk on the sidewalks again!

I think he ran out of talent and waded it up, any good driver can have a bad moment. It might have had something to do with the person that built it but then we go right back to the talent that had disappeared, only happened a few days/weeks before the asphalt flop.

I am suprised you one got one citation, I think you got off lucky and should pay the fine and count your lucky stars they did not tag you with a lot more!

Yah the more I realize it I got lucky. I am planning on paying it and shutting up and you are right to thank my lucky stars on this one. I guess I was caught in the moment of shock when the ticket came and posted up in pure shock.

I could see them getting you for reckless driving, failure to yield, exhibition of speed, exhibition of breaking, exhibitionism, unsafe lane change, driving a unsafe automobile, driving off road, parking off road, parking more then 18" from the curb, parking in a non-parking zone, parking more then 25 feet off the center of the Rubicon trail, failure to stop, driving a big pile of crap, failure to signal, and for sure littering!!!!

parking more then 25 feet off the center of the Rubicon trail

I am surprised they didnt get me for this one. I was well over 25 feet off the rubicon trail.

The more I research it, they could have nailed me for a lot more. Its eye opening how bad they can stick it to you. I honestly had no clue. Basically the huge majority of wheelers running parts like ruffstuff steering are breaking the law and being unsafe technically, everyone who has cut their fenders, beadlocks, everyone who has lifted their rig at all, wider axles than stock, all kinds of stuff to get nailed on if the police want to , they could nail you for driving your rig at any time. Its like we are all criminals.

Smoking the reefer.

LOL. they did a urine test for internal bleeding and I am sure alcohol and drugs too. I did have 2 cups of coffee that morning for breakfast so maybe they should consider outlawing coffee.

Smoking the reefer.

I love super troopers
