well i have been waiting for this day since i bought my first Jeep in high school...so CHP got me. he was all "what do you think i got you for" so i replied..."mirrors?" he looks for mirrors and says "oh yeah that too!, but i pulled you over for no mud flaps" and before he left he asked me "what do you have against doors?" i replied... "my a/c is broken", he gave me a funny look and walked away, lol.

so anyways! yeah...gotta fix it! just thought i would share my day...

any ideas on mud flaps? i was thinking of gettin a small stick of 1" and a small stick of 1/2" and welding a cotter pin setup on the backside of my bumper so i can remove it on the trail, pretty much what everyone else has done i guess...anyone wanna share there mud flap mounting?

When a LEO asks you a question like that you dont have to answer. Its usually better to ask them when they come up to your vehicle if there is a problem in a nice manner. Good luck with the mud flaps...

Depends. I've had good luck being honest. Got pulled over by a statie for my badly cracked windshield and out of date inspection sticker in the MJ and when I explained myself (rust on the frame and have to fix it before I can put a new windshield in properly, and no one will do it with the rust there) I got a warning instead of a ticket.

Really depends on the officer though, and how their day is going, and how you come across, and how badly you are violating the law / how much trouble they think you are. I came across honestly as a guy trying to put my jalopy back together bit by bit and most of the way there already (true!), I got let off... if you come off as a habitual offender with a list of equipment violations as long as your arm that you already know about and haven't fixed, you're gonna get the book thrown at you.

Mudflaps and removable mirrors just give em one less thing to nail you for

I guess thats true in some cases. Its alot different down here in TN Im sure. A little more "laxed".

It's worse when my wife asks me that question..."Why do you think I'm mad?" I always say "I dunno, the dead hooker in the closet?". No matter what I did it is never THAT bad.

Hahaha good one! that is soo true. so did you get a ticket for the mirrors too? Did he inspect the rest of your jeep? Cause I know if I got pulled over, I could get alot of write-ups, only if they looked for them.

but i pulled you over for no mud flaps

I wonder, how dealerships around bay area get away with selling cars without mud flaps.
They are selling something that is not legal to drive, right?

the tire cannot stick out more then 50% and cannot be exposed more then 50% from the rear position...something like that.

oh and the Cop was very cool, im not going into detail lol

why do you think i pulled you over???
1.cracked windshield
2.no mudflaps
3.wreckless driving(jeep doesnt drive so straight)
4.for all the open containers?
5.because you are bored and your life sucks and you have a chip on your shoulder and youre a dick?

ding ding ding
i think 5 is the correct answer...

You do know that NAXJA has some really good people that are in the police department, and some are even sheriff's in your area. Even as a joke some might not find it that funny, and I always want to stay on the good side of our law enforcement.

Sorry I have to nominate you for that post:exclamati

Get your junk street legal and stop giving Jeeps and the XJ a bad name! Soon we are going to start looking like the Toyota's! :yap:

Thank you

Sean, where are you located? I may know a guy that can help you with that ticket.

Where did he get you at? Might be helpful to others in the area.. Oh, don't forget to take them off before wheeling!! Backing up and tearing them off along with the brackets sucks!!

Yeah that's true we do have some officers that wheel there junk and all the ones I have talked to are really nice. I do wonder however if there junk is just as road worthy as ours. he he probably so. They can get away with it though that's the funny thing. But I would much rather have them on my side then always looking over my shoulder.
