I agree... Kinda makes you realize that life isn't as bad as you once thought.
BUT does anyone think that the world is gonna throw fundraisers and relief supplies our way. Like we did with the Tsunami... HELL NO!!!!
Pretty sad irony.....
\\

Hmmm, just watched the local news.
So far the phone's have been pretty much silent, compared to the tsunami.

Does that mean we don't care about our own people?
Or is it that we just don't realize the magnitude of the whole disaster?

Very well said.

There's supposedly enough Natl Guard troops to make up for any deployed overseas...

Keep in mind that a disaster of these proportions should not be used as a platform for political dueling...

There are still people in deep shit downthere and they need help irregardless of source...

I really feel for the children, elderly, handicapped and those that had no means of escaping the city when told to do so...

All those that stayed by choice are due to realize the errors of their inactions...

If I were in a similar situation and couldn't drive or ride outta town...

I woulda thrown my kid over my shoulder and started hiking...

There's lots of lessons here folks...

Be prepared!

Now on the way into work this AM, I hear that rescue efforts have been halted because people, (animals) are shooting at the rescuers!

Un Real!

I have many opinios on this, I will keep them to myself.

Anyone ever read the book, "TEOTWAWKI"?
Started as a web book back in the mid '90's I have, or had, the original printed off of the computer, I now have the paper back.
Alot of similartities between that book and the present!

I couldn't believe it when I heard it, how stupid can these people be??
aren't they shooting at the helicopters doing air evacuation of the superdome? I also heard that people are leving the superdome out of fear of the violence going on there.

between those mf-ers and the looters... they're making a horrible situation even more awful, stressful and are putting many others at an even higher risk.

I hope when all is said and done, law enforcement uses the video footage and pictures to go after the worthless scum who are leaving store fronts with arm fulls of Nike shoes, sports jerseys and other merchandise.

this entire ordeal is just imaginable. The reports say how it was inevitable, but its crazy to actually see it. The thing I have a hard time grasping are the people who say they have had to rebuild 2-3 times before from floods.. sorry, but I would have taken the hint the first time.. at least moved out of town. The attitudes of some of the people who did not evacuate is unexcusable, for everyone that is helpfull and heroic there are four that are complaining about the relief, stealing shoes, cars, personal effects, and robbing people.
They talk about people pulling themselves up by the bootstraps.. but I just dont know if it will happen.. I hope it does, but something needs to be realized about living below a lake. Many towns along the Mississippi have had to change because of repeat flooding, I think this will have to happen to some extent in NO.
It puts the nation into perspective, and I hope we can rally and get thru this...

Yeah?

And there's no hidden agenda to U.S. foreign aid?

Heck, Venezuela has already offered to send help and supplies, and that idiot Pat Robertson just finished mouthing off that we should assassinate their president. Maybe Chavez wants to give us the impression he's not such a bad guy. Or, just maybe, when the SHTF he's a human being with a heart and just wants people to have a blanket to sleep under.

I dunno. But after all the disaster relief the U.S. has sent all over the globe for so many years, if any countries want to help out in this mess I think we would be idiots to decline because we think there might be a "hidden agenda."

JMHO
Hi my friend, i was reading some posts and i found this interesting conversation. I have some information for you... I live in Venezuela, i know the situation here and i want to give you some true information about Chavez.

He wants to give you the best impression of him and his goberment but don't fall in that tramp, he's only looking for expand his crazy socialism project that is making my country fall down to a inminent hell.

Ok, is god to help people but is not good to make this situation a political jump and he is doing that.

Here he spoke someting like " Bush had no pre-aproved helping plans for that situation", well here we had a similar situation en Dicember 1999 in LA GUAIRA town, here died aprox. 20.000 people (you see well 20.000) (here you can read some information http://www.tierramerica.net/2004/0105/acentos.shtml), and Chavez didn't care about that because that same day was his Contitution Referendum Ellection. Simply, he didn't care.

Now, 5 years after, LA GUAIRA is a Giant cementery... so, how can he tell that about Bush?

From that moment we have had a lot of similar situations because of "EL NIÑO" weather effect and the same situation had been repeated.

So i don't like to talk bad about my beloved country but is not good to know that you don't know the kind of person Chavez is.

My friends i'm sorry about New Orleans situation, and be sure that Venezuelan people feel tha same. Count with us in this difficult moment.
