Good driveline shops?

Hey guys, i just got finnished putting on my RE4.5" lift on my 97 and, as exspected, i have vibs. I was wonderin if any body new of any good shops that will do a sye and cv drivshaft near SanRamon, Dublin, and Danville area. I hopin not to spend too much so any help is greatly appreciated. -Thanks, Travis

Concord Driveline Specialist is the closest shop around. They do good work, but are a bit on the pricey side.

As far as the SYE goes, how much wrenching experience do you have? It isn't that hard to do yourself. It will take an afternoon to get it done but that's it.

Not much, my lift was the first thing i have ever done that was major. I dont feel like drilling into my t-case, i would rather have a professional do the job. How much do you think it will cost to have this done?

Did you get the HD SYE or a hack n tap?

I think you might be able to get it done for free if you can round up some buddies to do all the hard work. The driveshaft will run around $300. If I remember right the local shop couldn't beat the price I got from High Angle Driveline so I ordered it from them. Took less than 3 days to get it.

Reasonable? No. About what you will be paying anywhere? Yes.


Boss trucks has a spotty reputation when it comes to the work they perform.

You still never said what type of SYE you got either. One is easy and quick to do, the other is more involved. Have you ever removed a transfer case before? If you can have the case out, I can do the actual SYE for lunch and a some adult refreshments. We'll get it back into your rig make sure it shifts before I take off. You will also need to measure for shims and the driveline once we are finished.

just dont go to san jose driveline. they tried to charge steve 500 bucks to shorten and balance his.

I dont have a sye or driveshaft yet, i was thinking of getting the hack n tap and cv drive shaft from rubiconexpress or high angle drivline. Would you really do the sye for some drinks and some dough... that would be awsome! I havent taken a t-case out before, but it cant be to hard right? I dont know how to measure for the length of a new driveline so if you know, that would be a big help. I should probly order the sye pretty soon if i were to get it by this weekend, or later, no hurry. But ya, if ya still want to help me out i'd really appreciate it, when are you avalible?

I've had all of my driveshafts made by South Bay Driveline (four of my own, and at least two other buddy's). Not sure you want to come all the way down to San Jose to have the shaft made, but they do excellent work. They're right behind the Shark Tank.

As far as the SYE, follow Bryan's advice and either do it yourself or have a buddy help you - especially if you go the Hack n Tap route.

call whichever vendor you are going to buy your SYE and Driveshaft from, and they will tell you what to measure, that way you can mess up Jess at High Angle makes good deals on SYE and Driveshaft Combos...

Personaly - I didnt like my driveshaft from Rubicon Express (made by Driveline Service of Sacramento) and It was way more than I paid for my front shaft through High Angle....
