GoldDiggin Build

I finally got around to installing the IRO adjustable LCA. Removing the frame side bolts proved to be a pita. But I was able to fit a grinding wheel in there and cut the bolts out in no time.

This was my first time installing LCA so figuring out how to rotate the axle was a learning curve for me. I was able to use a grade 8 - 9/16 bolt with no problems. A fair amount of anti-seize was also used.

I have read a lot of threads on "when do I need to upgrade my LCA" and after the install I would say, ASAP! The stock ones are as weak of a design as possible.

IRO does not supply instructions for just LCA, so I asked around and the consensus was that the adjustable end should be mounted on the axle side. I searched the interweb and google images and I could not confirm this. A quick phone call to the guys at IRO and I was told just the exact opposite. So I went with the professionals opinion.

Next upgrades on my list are to replace the cracked exhaust header. I haven't researched this much but since my XJ is a 99 it sound like I will need to stick with a stock one. And while I do that job I might as well swap in some brown dog motor mounts.

having the adjustable end up at the axle side helps to protect the jam nut from getting beat up. definitely installed in the correct orientation.

Hey! That makes a lot of sense.

On another note my blower motor has taken a dump on me. How often do these suckers fail? I am debating on either buying from parts store or hitting the picknpull.
