Go Lance Armstrong!

I've been watching since '99 when he one his first.
It's become a tradition every July.
Going for his seventh win and into retirement.
I guess that means it's gonna get boring after this year.
Anyone else into the Tour De France?

I liked riding bikes when I was a child. That was fun stuff. No desire to watch somebody do it on TV. But I will not bash those that enjoy it, unlike those that bash NASCAR fans. We are all in to different stuff. But if you like to watch men in spandex, who am I to judge. :D

I'm not sure if it's the thrill of the last 2K of each stage or if it's the accomplishment of a cancer survivor going now for his seventh Tour win.
It may be the spandex, though.
After he retires, I'll see how much I enjoy watching in years to come.....

Oh, and I would enjoy NASCAR much more if it were a road race and each day were different.
And I don't watch the Tour for the wrecks like most NASCAR fans do.:D

Yes, his battle against cancer is great. Kudos their, for sure.

I gotta say, what that man has done for the sport of cycling is enough to impress anyone, much less the fact that he survived cancer. I work at a bike store, and since the Lance craze really started picking up, everyone wants the Lance Armstrong bike now. Specials on real channels, (not just OLN), is another bonus of what he has done. Even if I am more of a fan of Tyler Hamilton, Lance Armstrong has changed the sport permanently.

The guy is nothing short of amazing. His sixth win last year was a record, and I was hoping that he would retire than so he could go out undefeated. He's in the thick of it now, so I'm hoping he can win it again ... and then retire gracefully. He sure doesn't have anything left to prove to anybody.

It is truly amazing to watch them ride in the Tour. Yesterday was excellent when Dario Cioni was bridging up to Christophe Mengin at a whopping 45mph!

I quit competetive bike racing about 5 years ago but tomorrow I am coming out of retirement. A buddy of mine wanted to ride with me one last time before I move to CO. At 9:00 a.m. we start in the Tour de Donut. That's right. 30 miles of grueling roads with 3 stops for the biggest, gooiest glazed donuts you've ever seen. For each donut you eat, you get a 5 minute time bonus. At the end you're ranked on your adjusted time with the rest of the field. It should be...gut wrenching.

I think Armstrong is great hope he wins but do any of you guys get into motorcycle racing? I don't mean to Hijack but the Moto GP is back in Laguna Seca after a ten year drought in the States. I think that's gonna be awesome to watch.

The french will be glad to see him go, err, stop. The man is amazing, I don't care who y'are.

It's awesome. Today I watched Nicky get the pole with Hopper starting third. It goes to show you that track familiarity is key. Watch out for Valentino though, he's a stud.

Go Lance, we all want to see win #7. It is just an added bonus to piss off the French some more. :)

I like Lance and I hope he wins, even though I must add that there will never be another Eddy Merckx. As a road cyclist (not racer, though, nor even close!), I welcome anybody who can raise the consciousness and respect of motorists for our poor defenseless butts out there on the tarmac!

I'm visiting in Connecticut right now, where I never cease to be amazed by the generously shouldered roads. Where I ride in Vermont, the only thing that keeps me in one piece is the courtesy of the motorists with whom I am usually sharing a lane.

So go Lance Go!

Let's hope it stays this time. Doubtful tho. It'll take some time to get a big enough following the backers want some money back NOW.

Greatest endurance athlete the world has ever known.

Only a cyclist can truly begin to appreciate what these guys do.
I've race both mountain and road bikes and I've done centuries (100 mile rides)
The idea of racing 100-130 miles every day for 3 weeks straight, through the Alps, is almost incomprehendable.

Tomorrow and Wednesday's mountain stages should give us a better idea of the contenders and whether or not Lance can win again.

Go Lance!

Sucks not having cable! I was not able to watch for the past two years because of no cable. I ride my bike to work and home everyday with a total of about fifteen miles a day. When younger without a license I would take my bike wherever I went. Usually around thirty miles a day or more so I kind of know what it takes to do what Lance does but by no means could I ever do an endurance race or the like.

I'm predicting that this year will be his easiest win yet.
I don't think these guys believe they can beat him and are just waiting for his retirement.
