GM 5.3/4L60E/Klune/Stak 300

I got a set of the hydro bump stop cans and scrounged around for some xj bump stops to use in them until I purchase a set of the real deals. I came across the set I cut free from the '89 MJ I'm working on and they slip right into the cans!

The are a bit long uncompressed at 2 3/4", but upon compression I'm betting they'll be close to the 2 1/8" I'm told fully compressed Fox 2" O.D. x 2.5" stroke bumps are.

Now I've just got to attach the cans to the chassis. Jeff

Looks great man! I like how everything is so close together, but that it still clears, that always seems professional to me and I try to get that in my own work. I also like the exhaust, I had to do the exact same thing on the Ranger when I did the D30 swap. The 302's driver side down pipe was hitting the driveshaft so I ran it under the pan in fronrt of the sump to get it to clear.

It all looks really good, Jeff. I hope you're still enjoying all the work........good stuff.

Jeff, you're slowing down! whens the next installment?

Well, Life has a way of kicking you in the ass. After 25 years of marriage, raising two sons, and doing a ton of fun things together my wife moved out one day while I was at work. 5 months later after many joint and single sessions with a marriage counselor she tells me last night that she really wants a divorce. So, that's partly why progress has been slow to non existent. I should work on this thing to take my mind off of things, but I can't seem to make myself do it. :( Jeff

Been there, we weren't together as long and no kids thankfully, but I understand. I wish you luck in getting your head straight, it takes a while.

I'm sorry to hear that Jeff, I'm going through something similiar and it's not easy. What I've come to realize is excersize is a good way to blow off steam and clear your mind. The hardest part is either putting down the bottle or getting off the couch to go do it. I wish the best for you.

I would guess having 2 sons has been a light in your life, and other then the good people here, you must have some great family and friends to lean on when needed.

stick with what puts a smile on your face.

Yikes, that really sucks :( Best of luck, try to keep your mind off it I guess.

Sorry to hear that man! Keep your head up!

Wow, hate to hear that. Maybe some wrench time will help keep your mind of the situation. It always helps me when I need to decompress to go beat on some steel.

I feel for you man...

Well, that's a buncha crap.

Jeff, if you get down past the Twin Cities, drop me a line. Beer's on me. Next time that my G/F & I head up to her old stomping grounds (Bessemer/Ironwood,) I'll look you up.

Jeff, you hangin' in there?

Yes, I am. As for my relationship status, I'm still what I would term separated, but perhaps we are on the road to reconciliation. Only more time will tell. As for the Jeep status, not much has happened. I did purchase a set of G2 5.13 thin gears for a High Pinion Dana 60 for my rear axle.

These are the ONLY thin 5.13 gears I could find for a HP Dana 60 (for a numerically high D60 carrier [ARB RD35].) I also purchased a set of Precision Gear 5.13 gears for a HP 44 and install kits for both. No pictures of those though. :)

In addition, I have it in my head that I want to cut as much off the bottom of my door as possible yet still allow the window to fully roll up and down and then raise the rocker panel accordingly. In that regard, I have determined that it is NOT possible to trim ANY of the window. The tempered glass simply won't allow it. So, the size of the window determines the size of the door. However, using a stock XJ style window regulator also affects the size of the door because it extends beyond the bottom of the door no matter what one does about it. So, I went junking for something different. I happened upon a Ford Tempo that had a regulator I thought might work with an appropriate amount of effort. The Ford window has a bracket that bolts to the window through two holes in the glass and has a track on it for a sliding lever AND a set of guides that slide vertically on a vertical rod. This bracket can sit directly on the bottom edge of the glass and therefor the bottom edge of the door. Mounted to the door sheet metal is a lever/gear arrangement that swings up and down with the crank. The end of the lever fits into the track on the bottom edge of the glass and pushes the glass up as the lever swings up. I have no idea how well this is going to work, but I have begun cutting and welding on the bracket that attaches to the glass. I'll let you know more when I know more. Jeff

I am glad you are still hanging in there.

Good luck with the recovery process and keep us updated on the build when you make progress.

I recently purchased a set of Precision Gear Dana 44 HP 5.13 gears.

However, the stamped symbol looks like a US Gear symbol!

I believe Precision Gear was sold fairly recently, but shouldn't I be getting the same gear they used to make? If anyone has the scoop on this I would like to know. Thanks, Jeff
