so lets say you got fired from work because you are too old. you're a reliable hard worker, you do your job yery well, but the boss man just wanted somebody younger and more modern. there's nothing wrong with you, he just wants to "modernize" the company. now would you support the company that fired you by buying the new-fangled product that he makes? you would. i have driven a 242 kj. it drives(and looks) like a fat suburu. it sucked offroad, and is not worthy of the JEEP name. period. :twak:

Probably not. But to each his own. My point is the KJ is tougher than it looks. As for this video, it is completely driver error that caused it to blow up.

if an xj hit it just right, it would break it's transfer, too. i didn't say that it it's not tough. but i didn't say that it is either, if you get my drift. the unibody structure is probably stronger than the xj's, but they lack the easy offroad modifiy-ibility, ground clearence and articulation of the xj, so they never make it far enough up the trail to utilize/test the structure. the wheelwells are smaller, so forget large tires. ifs- yeah. good luck fabbing up a lift for that. don't get me wrong, it's not bad for the likes of a kia sportage, etc. but it has no place carrying the jeep name.

Right. I understand in some ways it's better than a XJ and in other ways the XJ is better, it just the fact so many people start bashing it with out giving a chance that really get to me. Atleast you gave it a chance. And yes i'll admit, the IFS is the major weak point of the KJ....but there are some SFA kits about to come out that should help that aspect.

the only reason i drove it was because i got sideswiped by some idiot in a semi making an illegal turn, and the insurance company got it for me as a rental.
here's how it's "better"...
1-more car-like
2-more comfortable
3-smoother ride
4-quieter
5-slower. you know, like for old people
the problem is that sounds an awful lot like a car.....
i think kj stands for kar-jeep. yup. that's it.
