Gas prices, interesting observation, Pa

This is mostly for the NE area but may apply other places too...my fillups have gone from around $19 6 months ago to over $35 lately.
Anybody else notice the sudden jump last week to $2.35 regular and $2.45 mid grade ? I thought it was just up here in the pocono's until I made two trips yesterday to allentown, first trip was over blue mountain and down 145 and even sheetz was $2.35. Second trip was down 33 and some back roads, airport and shoenersville, same thing. Now, what I find interesting is that in 20 years of living up here I have NEVER seen pocono gas prices within .15 cents a gallon of allentown or even NJ and it's the same price over the bridge into phillipsburg. The only 'oddities' were the two 'tourist trap' stations around blakeslee, exxon at $2.65 regular but thats normal, he's been ripping those prices for years as he's the first station you see getting of the 115 exit on 80 and his business is from tourists only.
The other was a bit further west and is another 'first and only visible' station off a Rt80 exit.
My paranoid side says that something happened, either at state level or maybe the gasoline retailers association, it's almost like they were 'set' over the weekend, like they agreed to tie their prices to the national average.

They are up out here too, similar prices. Careful, this could turn into another "How much is gas in your area" thread.

$2.65 out here, where it's been hovering for the last month or so. Two weeks ago it dropped to $2.59, but was back up again just as fast. Interestingly, that was also over a weekend.

I hear ya...gas prices range from $2.43-$2.57 a gallon in the Cortland-Ithaca, NY area. I had to fill up th XJ twice in the last 4 days at $40.00 a pop. Could be worse, my buddy has a Suburban that costs him about $80 to fill up a couple of times a week.

Its up to $65 a barrel.

Bomb China. That should go some way towards alleviating the problem.

And rising... two days ago it hit a record high, and hasnt gone down..

I guess the prices will just keep going up for a while.. on the up, they said the actual usage is down from what they were estimating, which could cause a surplus and keep prices neutral.. SVO is the way to go...

All the truckers just need to quit delivering toilet paper and cheerios to the rich Mother F'ers that are making all their money in the comodites(sp) trade.

Then see how fast they drop...What gets me is that the prices are high only because these jerk-offs are "scared" that there "might be" a disruption in oil supply.

Take away their comforts so they feel the sting like the little guys out there and they will have a change of heart...In a hurry.

Stop your bitch'.

~$3.13 here.

:D

Hmm, you'd think so...but China's probably the only thing keeping Licensed To Il in DPRK from nuking everything in sight.

China's coming around and opening trade. It should all even out eventually. Give it some time. ;)

Yeah, but he's squirrely (and stupid) enough as it is that he might just launch on China anyway - the DRPK is so screwed in every sense of the term right now that they literally have nothing to lose. Besides, I'm having a crappy day and can't go postal on my workers. It's my God-given right to make stuff go boom :D

If we could just get the Russians to team up with us on tapping Siberia.

In all seriousness, though, I do hear you. It's all made worse by the fact that certain of our legislators want to bring California gas prices in line with those in Europe because, uh... Yeah, the reason for that is... Well, you see... No, really, they don't have a reason other than they hate cars, and if they tax fuel as extensively as it has been in Europe we'll all start taking the bus.

Freakin' retards.

On a semi-related note: I heard something on the radio the other day to the effect that one volcanic eruption causes more pollution than all the cars ever driven on the planet have. Does anyone have a source for this that can confirm or deny the statement? I'd like to get these people working on taxing volcanoes out of existence.
