Gas prices are going up rapidly again.

This is why I picked up a TDI Passat over the winter. 40mpg around town and I got 54mpg on the highway last week. Diesel has not changed much in price in the past few months.
The XJ gets used on weekends around town.
I'd buy a Jetta TDI if I could afford it. Or even a wrecked one to put the drivetrain in my Nissan truck....:D

How bout a Cummins 4bt swap + Homebrew Biodiesel?
Maybe i should start a company that builds swap kits...

Honestly I'm not that smart on engines.

Pacific Ethonal burned me a bit last time people talked about E85 as the next coming.

PEIX (Pacific Ethonal) stocks has been going up lately and so has VRNM (Verenium Corporation) for alternative fuels but BIOF (BioFuel Energy Corp.) has been killing me in stocks.

I guess it's time again to girdle our loins in anticipation of another rear entry by wall street futures traders. Gas is going up despite large reserves and low demand.

A 75c rise in the price of gas over 2 months? With fewer jobs and even fewer new cars being sold to burn it? I can't wait until huricane season! Am I the only one that believes that the oil industry is going to set us up for another crash and burn while making billions off us in the process?

Time to get out the bicycle <heavy sigh>

Hey Ron... I don't mean to be the lexicon police but you cracked me up with this. I'm sure you ment we should gird our loin. I refuse to believe any of you would be caught dead wearing a woman's undergarment. No offense intended ladies.

OT, prices probably will climb to reflect the 35.5 mpg that new cars will be required to achieve while maintaining the petrol producers needs for profit. On the bright side of this story, it seems that we are getting back on the roads again. Though historically prices do climb in the summer, I hope for the best and praise my DD '00 Cherokee for getting just over 21 mpg lately.

Carry on,
Mike

hmm how will i cope with these gas prices... step one: sell my R6, step two: use the money from the R6 and buy a honda ruckus scooter (100mpg) pretty fun toy and you can hit highway speeds if you do the 150cc swap (only a 500$) upgrade. and have about 6 grand left over for gas :P

now only if i could find somebody to buy my bike :(

VIP scooter to the rescue

There is a guy on the wrangler forums that did a 89 or 88 YJ, swap was dead easy, he even has the part numbers for the adapters and what not. Got it out of a delivery truck that rolled, $1500 for the wrecked truck, pulled the engine and sold the aluminum body for $1200 or so. Even uses the stock gauges and ignition switch. However the AX5 did not last long :D and the AX15 was getting replaced last time I read about it.
