Gas prices are going up rapidly again.

I guess it's time again to girdle our loins in anticipation of another rear entry by wall street futures traders. Gas is going up despite large reserves and low demand.

A 75c rise in the price of gas over 2 months? With fewer jobs and even fewer new cars being sold to burn it? I can't wait until huricane season! Am I the only one that believes that the oil industry is going to set us up for another crash and burn while making billions off us in the process?

Time to get out the bicycle <heavy sigh>

Yeah I dont get it, no big jump in prices yet heating oil went up $0.20/gal overnight, this sucks.

Glad i just purchased a motorcycle and am taking saftey course/getting licence this weekend.

We're back up to $2.76, from the low $2s a few weeks ago. I'm thrilled- I really didn't want to keep burning that cheap $2 gas. All that money was burning a hole in my pocket.

I just read in the last few weeks that the experts were predicting we'd be under $3 all summer. That's very similar to what they said last year, right before we hit $4/gallon.

I just dont get how we were down to $1.85 and with no major increase in crude prices up to $2.45.

Crudes at 70 a barrel again. Because of a weak dollar.

And the dollar is getting weaker because we've gone and created 700 billion more of them out of whole cloth.

Looks like we're going to be headed for a soaking that will make $4/gal seem like nothing, by the time it all really hits.

I will maintain my position on the whole "economic recovery" programme - the best thing that government could have done would be to have done nothing and let things sort themselves out. It would have been fairly tumultuous in the short term, but far better in the long term. We've effective doubled or tripled the monetary supply in the course of six months (which will result in massive inflation, when it catches up,) and it sets a dangerous precedent for big business ("It's OK if I screw up - Washington will bail me out.")

Not to mention there are probably myriad flaws with the idea that I'm not considering at the moment. Hell, the bailout bill, as signed, was something like 1600 pages. You think something that large and that complex isn't going to be massively flawed? There are times I wish I were President - anything that big that landed on my desk would be summarily kicked back for simplification...

I would say I am waiting for Obama to come to the rescue and force those mean oil companies to lower their prices.

But, from all indications, I would say that he wants gas prices as high as they can go.

Here's an interesting thought......

How many gallons of gas do you think Obama will personally buy during his term? I'm betting that figure to be a big fat ZERO. Just another example of the higher-ups forgetting what it's like for the rest of us...... Now, how many gallons do you think WE'RE going to be buying FOR him?.......

Yeah the increase is sucking...

Its up to around $3.00 + here. :(

ya am/pm is 2.65 right now, sucks when im only gettin around 12mpg with my 33s and 3.50s

Gotta pay to play. Boo hoo, gas is expensive. :D:D:D

I don't mind the pay for play.

As oil in general goes up, so will the price of everything else that depends on the use of oil or energy to create it. Our entire economy depends on us being able to use cheap energy sources. What will happen again when the cost of energy outstrips the consumers ability to pay for goods that are created using expensive energy sources and those struggling businesses are forced out of business for good this time?

Still Laughing or do you really want to see "The Crash of 08 part 2 - The Deep Depression" ? You won't even have to go to the theater to watch it, it'll come to you.

Its up here too, but not what some of you guys are reporting. $2.42 today. If I go across the bridge its even cheaper, price and quality.

almost 3 bucks a gallon again in socal booo time for less driving again  nope but it sucks that we are making the dollar weaker and oil prices stronger :anon:

Ron, I pray several times a day for this. And yes, I'm laughing even harder now. People have become way too complacent and have collectively created the world we all live in. I laugh because it always comes back to bite them in their collective asses. :moon:

It must be Bush's fault, right?

Makes me glad I drive a Honda.

I'm heading back to school in the fall and am renting close to campus so I can ride my bike and not pay for gas all the time.

I love it when a thread starts off with a statement which proves that the poster has an eye for the obvious. Thanks Zuki-Ron!!!

HA!:roflmao: I knew gas was going to go up again and I'm sure by the next time we have a recession it will be way past 4 dollars a gallon. Converting the XJ to propane would be in order then. Of course they would just find a way to make LP more expensive as the demand increases. We are all screwed no matter what! :D

This is why I picked up a TDI Passat over the winter. 40mpg around town and I got 54mpg on the highway last week. Diesel has not changed much in price in the past few months.
The XJ gets used on weekends around town.
