Has anyone here ever refurbed/updated theirs without just going out and buying a new one? The one we have is perfectly fine still...I'm pretty certain it just needs a very good scrubbing, and maybe replacement of a couple of minor interior parts.....and a new paint job.

has anyone ever done this? tips, hints, advice? From what i've read/seen, I need to wash the hell out of it (going to use the pressure washer), i'll take a wire brush to the paint thats flaky, and to the rust to loosen up whats on there. dry it really well, and repaint with new high-temp paint, of course taping off all the stainless parts, and cleaning the glass in it well.

its another possible weekend project for this weekend if the weather stays nice.

I tried to repair my dads gas grill, spent about $100 worked fine for another year and the regulator clogged again. Cleaned it up and it sat for about 5 years.
I took the same grill to the Crawl in 08, as backup for the smoker, warming, and so on. It sucked again, threw the whole mess in the trash.

That was the last time, go charcoal and never look back, my 2 cents.

If you must burn gas , buy a good one, keep it covered.

theres really nothing wrong with the interior....its more the sides of the grill. i the regulator is fine. just want to do maintenance and upkeep type stuff to keep it working well.

Let me know where you find replacement grills (the ones that sit inside that you cook on).

lowes, home depot, and sears i believe.

we have a brinkman grill, and we can direct order the replacement stuff from them i'm pretty sure.

plus i bought a fairly nice grill cover for it....so that should help elongate its life.

whens the bbq cook out you promissed?
i expect wings and potato salad!

LOL. Unfortunately my hubby is the BBQer in the family. I stick to inside dishes.

i'm pretty damn good at spaghetti.

my list of general cleaning and stuff continues.....boo.....

the list now includes:

finish the yardwork
finish priming/painting the laundry room
prime/paint dining room and living room
clean/update grill
get carpets pro cleaned (i am convinced this is the way to go as of right now)
and whatever else pops up between now and then....which i'm sure will happen.

oh yea:

host a meet'n greet

i was looking at a charcoal/gas combo one for grilling and smoking as a surprise...but as the hubby does the grilling....i spose i will let him help pick it out.

I installed surround sound in my den. It's freaking awesome.

yea, i'll be installing it in the living room. dont have a den...and the office is utilitarian.

Nothing better than watching a zombie movie and hearing footsteps behind you. Or watching an action movie and hearing stuff blow up to the right of you.
