Garrett's build thread

Progress is looking good. I take it you are keeping it a 4 seater?

Yes, the main goal here is to make a safer vehicle to take the family out in....

There's a possibility of this thing being a 5 seater, the fifth seat being a baby seat bolted down backwards behind the second row.... But this has only been discussed late at night after many beers!!

I plan to run 4 stock bucket seats for now, then will upgrade to PRPs, or something like that, at a later date.

Hacked up a bit more metal and tube yesterday. I put her back on wheels just to roll her back to work on the front end. most of the tube work is complete now from the windshield back. I am a little unsure about what to do with the tubing at the roof line, I think I'm just going to throw in some short angle braces in each corner and call it a day. I'm trying to keep the tube work away from where our heads will be as much a possible.

I got the front cross member cut and welded in. 2x6 1/4" heavy SOB!! I used 3 1/2", 3/16" angle to tie it into the outside frame stiffeners.

I then got the stinger bent up and welded on, along with a horizontal tube to support the front of the winch plate. I had some 3/8" plate laying around, so we used that as the bottom winch plate. Welded all that solid to the cross member and the tube work.

looking great though dude! i need to rent that bender from ya when you're done :)

dumb question, but what's the plan with the cage around the window? are you going to run anything around the dash board line and brace back up to the top? or just the one bar, or?

I plan to run one over the dash and a long as my windshield guy says he can pull the windshield, I will run the dual vertical tubes in the middle from the dash tube to the top. I think it's overkill and may not do the vertical ones, but I do like the look of them.

Thanks dawg!

I need to get my hands on some round lights that I can use as head lights. I've been researching but I just need to get something so I can get the front of this thing done!

why not keep the stock driving lights?

seems like they still fit.
