Full bodied MJ on 42.5 boggers

Interesting placement. Any reason you didn't run the gauge/switch in the cab and leave just the connection in there?

I thought of doing that a while back when I first did mine, but then realized I'd be smashing into that area far too much

Clean work though. Is that some kind of carbon fiber wrap on the plate that you riveted in there?

It actually is a piece of carbon fiber. Had some scraps lying around. I had the gauge in the dash last time and you couldn't read it while outside the truck. Now I can keep an eye on it while using it. And I also have a switch and indicator light on the dash.

was awsome watching you drag it through blacks and reds all weekend and still looks amazing, looking forward to wheeling with you again, Plus I have a IOU for 5 gallons of gas.

And I owe you for a roll of paper towels. Call it even. Man I had a blast. I cant wait to do it again. Hope to have some tube done soon. Today I dove tailed the bed and removed the tail lights... err the rocks actually did all the work.

So as many of you know, I have found the need to take the next step with my truck. I need more body protection. I am not a fan of exo cages, so to get the desired protection I will need to remove most of the sheet metal and tube it up. The issue I have is cutting up a good MJ when all I will reuse is the floor and firewall. So it makes more sense to sell it and start with a pile of tube. Dunno what to do. What do you guys think its worth the way it is?

Built rigs never demand that much money. Sucks but such is life.

I'd honestly have no idea where to start. Post it up for whatever you think is reasonable with an "OBO" behind it and see what people throw at you.

I wouldn't blame you for wanting to start with a pile of tube. I've heavily thought about it myself. When I did mine, I had just learned to weld and didn't know how to bend tube. I just kept going with what I had and ended up with my MJ as it sits.

It's honestly up to you. A tube buggy is simpler to work on, fab on, etc. because you put things where you want it. Just realize that it's going to cost more than what you're going to get for the MJ, unless you do things dirt cheap (OEM radiator, very few AN fittings, cheap exhaust, cheap drivetrain, etc.). Not saying that can't work, but don't give yourself a false vision of an LS powerhouse buggy on 40s with 7075 control arms or something if you don't have the money for it.

Wheel the mj. Do an internal cage if you don love exos and have fun.

Cutting up a perfectly good jeep is always the correct answer. Never miss an opportunity to make something worse ;)

I would agree with XJ's but the MJ has and is getting rarer and I'm getting sad just thinking about this one getting a hack job.... I say wheel it as it. Or you could swap over to stock drivetrain and smaller tires and then sell it. Buy a donor xj for your buggy and keep you big tires and axles. :D

I see three possibilities.
1. Wheel it til it gets beat
2. Cut the bed off and sell it, Cage the cab/truggy rear, build tube panels like EricXJ
3. Buy a donor XJ and do a ton of fab work swapping floor pans (custom for Stock) and swap the running gear between the two. Then this MJ gets a less crazy in size and you can get all hack happy on the XJ

Digging the feedback. I've been thinking pretty hard n maybe I'll narrow the nose and bed (truggy style)with simple bolt on panels that look like mj material. Then I can smash em up and bolt on new ones when they get bad... Lower it 2 inches and put the ls in it. I really want to keep it looking like a MJ either way.
