The damper is there to control pressure surges because it is a non return system. Has nothing to do with sound.

Would a bad damper cause this (video),

Im pretty sure that variation would be your injectors opening and closing. Releasing pressure and then building it again as they open and close so i dont know if a damper would take that out or not.

Try it and let us know lol.

Possibly.. never though of that. IIRC ,mine may do that too.
