Fuel Injectors

On Monday I took my XJ to have the injectors replaced,I figured that a ASE mech who does the work everyday could do the job correctly and quickly.
Tech must have had a bad weekend---I did not watch the job being done--heard the Jeep start in less than 1 hr,then shut off,had a leak at the fuel rail.

Tech then pulled injectors out to try and re-seal them--evidently(sp) not in a straight line as two of the plastic ends on the injectors stuck in the port and broke off,one other was pulled down but not broken off.In trying to remove the broken parts one went into the head, valve was closed on that cylinder,so only thing to do was pull intake, remove plastic part and re-assemble with the old injectors.

Now I have 3 damaged/broken injectors and they want to bill me for 2 hrs labor.
That bill hasn,t been paid.

I have a spare intake ,got home, tried to install the injectors(good ones) in it.Yes a small push & wiggle and they went in fine.

Has anyone had problems with the injectors from Five0 motorsports not fitting in the manifold port?
I need to talk to them and find out if anyone else has had problems.
Thanks for reading my rant---

clean the matting surface of the port with a dentist pick tool and lube the orings with vasoline before installing the injectors.

You would think an ASE rated mech would know to do that,he did lube the O-rings though, just didn,t push them in straight.

you would think, but who knows.

IIRC, when i installed mine, i rocked them in and didnt push them in straight. thats why you lube them so you dont tear them as they get rocked in.

I installed the Ford Injectors this weekend in my 2000 XJ, part number ber is YR3Z-9F593-AB, They are four hole 22lb mustang injectors. Runs great and now has a very smooth idle and good power.

I just installed this past weekend the 19lb. Mustang 5.0 fuel injectors on my 176,000 '90' XJ. Bought them off of eBay. $40.00 shipped to me door.

Ford Mustang 19lb. fuel injectors (# E6TE-A3B)

Took about an hour to do and the results are amazing. Runs like a brand new 176,000 engine.

Highly recommend this Renix fix/upgrade!

FordGuy, was the difference noticable when you swapped injectors? I'm wondering if this is worth doing on my 2000XJ as well. See my post 2 up. Just wondering which injectors to go with and the best place to get them. I didnt see the ones you mentioned on Five-0, closest I could find were the Bosch ones I mentioned...

Thanks!

I just (2 weeks ago) installed a set of #19 5.0 injectors from http://www.precisionautoinjectors.com/ in my 1990 XJ. They arrived quickly and looked new (they are remanufactured). They went in fine and seem to work well. I need a new Throttle position sensor (unrelated issue) so it still runs poorly, but it no longer leaks. My Jeep has over 240K on the clock and I had 3 different injector types on it (all single hole), so I figured an upgrade was in order since I already had a leak.

I'm in the process of doing a write-up about the injector upgrade on my site ( http://xjcruiser.com ) and it should be up in the next few days.

As an update, the lt1 injectors use the same oring kit as a jeep or mustang, my orings were just ripped so it spewed gas everywhere. Ill be trying this again this afternoon after classes.

Am I missing something Wayne? :)

First of all my idle quality is now fantastic and seems to run very smooth. I don't yet know if there will be an improvement in fuel economy. The reason I went with the Ford injectors was I wanted a solid part number so that if I ever needed to replace one it could be match exactly. When I spoke to the FiveO guys, who were very nice! It seemed that they used several different injectors, Example they use 99-01 mustang 3.8L for the 2000/01 jeeps, when I looked up the Ford specs those years according to Ford were not all the same, not to say they would not work fine. I researched the hell out of this to come up with the exact injector match and plug along with an injector that did not use the plastic cap on the end of the injector(they don't hold up as well) and that is how I decided to use that part number. What is nice is they can be bought anywhere!

Awesome thanks dude!!!! Exactly what I wanted to know!!!

What,s missing is my inability to deleate the whole post.
After replying to a post by FordGuy,I re-read the info and was wrong in my reply. So I deleated as much as I could.

The reply was that the connectors for the injectors had been changed for the 99-01 years,he already noted that and had the correct injector #,s.

How can you tell if your injectors are bad? My 94 has 182000 on the clock and is lacking power. Compression is okay and it has a new TPS and O2 sensor. Do they leak on the outside or is it internal?

Thanks guys.
