They should work with the 5/8" U-bolts. I have the same u-bolt plates on my D44 with 5/8" ruffstuff U-bolts. I did open the holes up a bit, but it shouldn't be an issue, even with a 3" axle tube.

Would you happen to have any better pic of the front bumper? It's a little dark in pic and was looking for a certain look, and you said yours is modified...also any pic of the rear bumper, your link shows one with a hitch and I assume yours doesn't have a hitch....thanks

This was royal xj's old bumper, I'll take some pics today for you. Was going to install on my xj but I bought another with a bumper on it so I'm scrapping this project.
No hitch in the rear bumper.
