Has anybody used the RuffStuff shock towers, or is everyone just making their own hoops?
It would be more difficult to adapt those into an XJ than to make your own

yes, necesarily. those shock towers will not work as a weld on option for the front of an xj. it would take way more work to make them usable than it would be to design and build your own like i did. no bender is required. Not necesarily. If you have a tubing bender at your disposal then yes, its probably easier to make your own. However if you dont like the majority of us, its probably easier. i plan on buying the kit later next year when i convert the front of my xj to airshocks.
So looking to run coil over on my xj
How are u guys mounting the bottom?
Have a few ideas looking for others
it's better on the joints if the mounts are directly on top of the axle.
I have tabs off the LCA mount.
Ya thats now i have my fox 2.0s now just seems lime theres a better way to mount the coil overs i saw genrite is mounting theres on top of the knuckle on the axle wonder if any go fastguys run this set up?![]()
with coilovers, ALL the weight of the vehicle is on the shock mount, so having it behind the axle will transfer that weight to the joints. if you want premature wear, go ahead. What about all those guys that run trailing and leading arms?
And I should say I don't have coilovers, just race shocks. but I put the shock mounts there to get some more uptravel.
do not agree.IMHO, mount them where they fit and get you the travel numbers you need.

they fit just fine. good luck fitting them back far enough to be behind the axle. i suppose you can have zero uptravel or remove your brake booster. or maybe run 12" of lift.I'm well aware of how a coilover works. and I have read that many times. but is it really going to matter? if you are using quality joints, you aren't going to kill them instantly. ALL joints wear and need to be serviced at some point. if you are using a quailty 2.5" JJ or 1.25" rod end how much faster are you really going to wear them out?
so you'd rather put them where they don't fit just so they can be on top of the axle?
I mean if they work well right there and you get the numbers you want putting them there go ahead... but your jeep's not gonna fold like a taco if you don't.
