Forum upgrade?

God I hope we already cover desert racing.

Other-wise, I've been in the wrong forum for the last 2 years!

I think it would be a good idea to open this section up to all types of off road racing, we could benefit from more traffic in here and it would seem silly to make other sub forums for the rest of the competition discussions and build threads.

Jim has gone relatively MIA, if you need someone to mod this section let me know.

I agree, it should be not just jeepspeed but also any other form of jeep comp vehicles and discussions.

Unfortunately Jim has not been a member for a while and is no longer a mod here.

I have been watching in the mean time. :eyes:

something to ponder... where do you draw the line between adv fab and 'comp vehicles' that would be in this forum?

Plus the ability to search by forum. Keeping everything in one place might make that difficult.

I think it ought to be combined. I never go to Adv Fab, not that much in there that I'm interested in and I tend to only view a couple of forums. While I haven't been posting much, this is one of a couple forums that I keep an eye on. I don't agree that having a bunch of specific forums makes it much easier to search, I rarely specify a forum when doing a search.

We don't have a rock crawling forum, but we do have a desert racing forum. Since KOH is a desert race with a lot of rock crawling it seems obvious that KOH stuff should go here. Lot's of stuff here could go in advanced fab, but it's about going fast in the desert so it goes here, KOH is going fast in the desert. An Ultra4 short course race is still about the technology of going fast in desert like conditions.

How about renaming the forum Racing/Competition Tech?
I agree with just about everyone here that this forum can use the
added traffic and it just makes sence that we would put the new
KOH builds here.
Well, any teams that are looking for support from NAXJA should
be putting their build threads here.

I honestly don't search in a specific forum when I have a question.
Just type in the question in that little 'search' box and go from there...

:D

I don't recall you ever searching.... :dunce:

I hate to be a wet blanket but a lot of the builds that go on in adfab have nothing to do with competition or any sort of advanced fabrication, there are builds in there that are nothing more than what someone like me with no skills is welding to his junk to keep it from falling apart. I think the adfab section should stay where it is, and this section should be opened up to a broader range for the rigs that are built to either compete or try and keep up with those that do.

just my 2¢

I sort of don't see a need for a total change of the forum name. It's still a Jeepspeed Prerunner forum, maybe just add "desert racing" to the title, that should cover it. Lot's of people interested don't actually compete, that seems a little restrictive to me. Whether you're competing or just building to have fun going faster much of the tech is the same. While we do learn things, mostly we're here for entertainment, so being interested in what's going on is pretty important.

But then you have straight rock racing, which we do have members either currently involved or involved at one point. I believe ktm_racer used to be involved in rock racing back east. Would they be included in desert racing?

Honestly though, with as much attention as people pay to the forum titles, I don't think we need to worry too much...:D

perhaps just an prerunning/offroad racing forum then? we haven't really seen the influx of jeepspeeders that this section was originally intended to bring, and honestly they have their own site for that type of thing. The majority of the posts in this section are people who are into desert racing and have been around the block a few times in an XJ, but I also like to see the posts from users such as vetteboy who has beaten his rig to the limits in both the desert and the rocks. I think there is a far greater majority of people that would rather build a dual purpose rig that they can crawl one day and haul ass in the next. It would be nice to see the builds and tech in one area that have to do with racing... a lot of the requirements for full race or comp vehicles will keep the rest of us weekend warriors safer and help us build bigger and better rigs by seeing things we may not have considered as either an upgrade or a breaking point.

just another 2¢ for the pile.

How many Ultra 4 class cars are actual cherokee's? I honestly see no need to involve them in a specific class like jeepspeed. Keep it Jeepspeed, prerunner, and desert racing only with a XJ specific platform. Lets not clutter up this Forum with a bunch of " Tube Buggy's". If you want an Ultra 4 forum go to Pirate..

Quite a few, with the 'stock class' that doesn't even allow you to bob your fenders. There will probably be 15+ compete full body XJ entries in this next KOH.
