Flog Location

wheeling isnt free.... its just a concept we all have to get used to.

In a world where small family parks get shut down because of high insurance costs and have very little maintenance i'll pay windrock fees with a smile. Theyre putting a general store in the parking lot and have committed to developing and improving the park continuosly. The facilities have improved tenfold since ive been going as a kid, from the campground to the FULL TIME trail maintenance and event staff and all the trail maintenance equipment (no company equipment is used, all the dozers trucks etc are solely purposed for trail maintenance). Plus all proper insurance and coverage for the land so they can stay open.

a weekender is 35-40 per person and you get full access to 77k acres, as hard as you want or as easy as you want.

Sounds like Harlan... only more expensive and bigger. It would cost me more to go wheeling there then it would at Harlan. Time on the road would be about the same. Just sayin....

I spent a few minutes looking at the SEC and it's members and where they are on the map. Given the geography, Windrock isn't a bad idea. Here's my lame map. We have 13 members in TN, 13 in NC, 5 in SC, 8 in FL, 7 in GA, 7 in AL, 1 in MS, 12 in VA, and 1 in KY. This is according to the NAXJA roster.

This is very cool. There use to be one for the membership of the whole club. You could click on a state and it would list the members in said state. It was neat but they tell me its too labor intensive to keep up now. Hence why there isn't one.

All locations are approximate. And why are there so many from VA in the SEC?

That's a good question. I've never thought about that.

Well, it seems like the obvious answer is that the SEC is better than the NAC. :)

I also find it sad that out of our entire Chapter there's not one place that's better suited for the Crawl.

It was called Tellico.... Unfortunately its no longer available.

Never been to Windrock, wouldn't mind trying it out. I'd also like to throw Morris Mountain out there. Its a little closer to out Florida contingent.
Morris Mountain looks like a badass park. Reasonably priced too.

It's decent but kind of small. However there are two or three right there together if memory serves me correctly.

Just out of curiosity, why does the park for the flog have to be so big? As long as there's room for camping and enough trails/obstacles to keep you busy for two days I don't see why it needs to be massive.

Really it doesn't. I don't know if others will agree that were there but after we did the Crawl there I decided I would not return to that particular one. We rented the whole park for a very reasonable price IIRC but when we arrived the camping area had 4' grass and they even killed a large rattler while they were cutting it.

NOVA guys kinda choose which chapter they want to participate in since they are closer to the NAC.

Trail length is really for the easy group so they can ride all weekend without running the same trails over and over.

Tellico was many things, including being right in the middle of the chapter. Lesson learned.

Yeah, that's understandable. I guess I don't think about that since even if I'm in the small Jeep that only does small stuff I get just as much enjoyment out of watching the big rigs do the hard stuff. I take my red Jeep to Gulches (88acres) and can spend all weekend wheeling/watching the big Jeep play and be perfectly content.

I guess not everyone feels the same way. I can understand why.

Personally haven't been to adventure...but its only about 30 minutes from me.
Several buddies go regularly and love it. The guy that owns toms 4x4 here in Chattanooga built that park..which just opened this year. Stuff for everyone there, buggies, mild built jeeps, and even the smaller guys on 31s.
I just Havent gone yet simply because I don't wanna pay to wheel when I can go elsewhere free.

Adventure seems to be THE place around here..everyone that's gone has loved it.

Hey, I like the location of that place.

As do I...less than 10 hours form where we are in Florida. I drive right by that exit off I24 every time we go to St Louis...hmmmm!!
