Flog Location

Location
Monterey, CA
Lets discuss the Flog location. We would like to brainstorm and nominate locations, and then we will vote as a chapter. Please keep in mind location within the chapter, trail length and difficulties, and camping/lodging facilities. With a new suggestion/nomination, please provide a link to the trails so that people can research.

BOD is reserving veto powers due mainly to location within chapter and facilities.

I know I'm not a red member but what about that Rush offroad park in KY. From the sounds of it the place is huge and they're needing good feedback from people on creating trails. What better way to welcome a privately owned park to the community than a very large jeep gathering.

Nice idea, but not sure that would fly due to distance. I checked 4 of the places where most of the Crawl attendees come for both Harlan and Rush KY mileage.

Rush is 30 minutes further than Harlan for Nashville, 2 hours further for Knoxville, 2 hours further for Chattanooga, and 30 minutes farther for Charlotte.

I'd be willing to go back to Golden Mountain or Windrock. A lot of people on TNJeeps.com camp and wheel at Pickett National Forest. I'd like to check that out. I hear the wheeling is pretty good there. That is up near Jamestown TN.

Never been to Windrock, wouldn't mind trying it out. I'd also like to throw Morris Mountain out there. Its a little closer to out Florida contingent.

I'm down for windrock. I need some tires by then.

Not that I can make it but Jamestown TN is 350 miles from Roanoke. With football getting ready to kick off my weekends are tied up until November.

It's been a long time since it came to windrock....

Bring your wallet if its more then just you... Overpriced IMHO.

More info please. Website?

I vote Gulches just so all ya'll have to come way down here. :D

Is there a date yet? Last weekend in October? 25th-27th?

Hell no! Probably the only way we will get you to an event is have it at your house.

Gulches would make it easier for us FL folks to maybe make it!

wheeling isnt free.... its just a concept we all have to get used to.

In a world where small family parks get shut down because of high insurance costs and have very little maintenance i'll pay windrock fees with a smile. Theyre putting a general store in the parking lot and have committed to developing and improving the park continuosly. The facilities have improved tenfold since ive been going as a kid, from the campground to the FULL TIME trail maintenance and event staff and all the trail maintenance equipment (no company equipment is used, all the dozers trucks etc are solely purposed for trail maintenance). Plus all proper insurance and coverage for the land so they can stay open.

a weekender is 35-40 per person and you get full access to 77k acres, as hard as you want or as easy as you want.

I spent a few minutes looking at the SEC and it's members and where they are on the map. Given the geography, Windrock isn't a bad idea. Here's my lame map. We have 13 members in TN, 13 in NC, 5 in SC, 8 in FL, 7 in GA, 7 in AL, 1 in MS, 12 in VA, and 1 in KY. This is according to the NAXJA roster.
