finaly got an XJ 99 limited with some stuff

Finally working on this toilet again.

9 center is all done, waiting on leaf perches to arrive and figuring out a leafspring bushing problem. Then the ass end is done.

D30 is under the front just waiting on a long arm to mock it up and see where the spring pads need to be welded to.

Major progress today on the new 4.0.

Block is line honed and bored 20 over

Prepped the rods, glass bead, magnaflux, cut the caps, cut rods, new ARP rod bolts and stretch checking. Will hone out to size next week.

Put the rear toolbox back in, had this tank laying aroun so I put it in. Probably more trouble than its worth because I know I'm gonna get stupid questions now.

Maybe he doesn't drive like us Aholes.

Idk if it would have been possible for you but i would have pushed the front axle forward a few inches to help with approach angles. I ended up doing it to mine. But i wish i had thought of it the first time i fabed up my mounts.

i can't put inner C gussets on there as they get in the way of the spring pads of were you talking about under the axle tube?
the axle has the mini truss thing built in which is good. i also don't like most fully trussed front axles as they look like ass with shit welded everywhere. this is just a temp axle anyway.

don't get me wrong i do like feedback and pointers from the guys who have done a lot of work over the year and know a lot more than me but where was all this info a few months ago? kinda like being an armchair QB at this point.

the plan for this is 37 KM2's and mall crawling so i'm not gonna bend it anyway.

I'm not sure how inner C gussets would get in the way of the spring pads. Look up the T&J kit (I think that's how makes it) and see how they do the uppers. Doesn't attach to the axle tube at all.

I wouldn't worry too much about the truss and all that if you're not planning on beating on it. If you're just putting around and throwing 37s on for mostly looks, you'll be fine. I'd be more worried about the stock D30 carrier you're running in there than anything else I see on it.

Stock carrier will be no problem, just ask Dundy.

The funny part is I have a ford 9 in the back with a detroit and 31 spline Chromo shafts haha.

As soon as I get these axles in and driving again I'm ordering a pair fab 9s of some type for it and I think a stroker. Or I'll slowly start piecing together a tranny an T-case for an LS of some sort.

hahah nah, 4.56. what was in there when i got it. i thought about the 4.88s but didn't want the higher RPMs and was planning on putting in a VW TDI with more power than the 4.0 and needed lower RPM...... not doing that so ehh gonna be slow, till i get the LS1 or 4.7 stroker in it.
