Nice.I happen to have a XJ just the same in looking to lift it.Been searching the web everywere.Yours is the first clean one with a lift without tires added, which gives me idears on what I need.If you don't mine sharing on the whos, whats and weres,I would be greatful.Thanks.
Thanks for the compliments. The specs are in my profile, with links to just about all of the stuff I have on it right now...but I just noticed a couple of them arent working....let me see if I can update that for you. For now, i'll just tell you. The lift kit is a RRO 3" BB, which consists of coil spacers, blocks for the rear axle, and rear shackles. For a cheap, 3" lift, that you don't plan on beating the tar out of (mine is my DD, and see's a lot of highway travel), you really can't go wrong with it. Yeah, blocks as a lift aren't exactly ideal, but for a mainly street driven, ocasionaly weekend wheeled rig, it will work.
The tricky thing is, when you get to 3"+ on lifts, you begin to have to replace other components. The higher up you go, the more certain you'll have to replace things (such as your trac bar, lower control arms...etc etc), but at 3", it's hard to say what you'll need. I would highly suggest you purchase an adjustable trac bar. I have a JKS adjustable trac bar and love it. The best price I found on it was through Jason at Jeepinoutfitters.com....he's a

sponsor, and offers a 5% discount on purchases through him. Shipping was prompt...the only thing that got me, and this was partly my fault, was he didn't bill my credit card untill almost a week after I had the trac bar in my hands. However, I would still recommend him to anybody (as he was recommended to me by a friend of mine). Send him an e-mail, he'll be more than happy to talk to you and offer his advice. We were sending e-mails back and forth at midnight one night....can you ask for better customer service?
You will also probably need a transfer case drop. If your angles are too far off after your lift, you'll get some driveline vibes and perhaps some u-joint noise...like i'm getting...not good for the drivetrain (my tcase drop kit is going in tomorrow). The one I got is made by BDS, and cost me right at $30 brand new.
For Shocks, I am running the BDS 5500 series, which cost me about just under $40 a piece if I remember correctly.
You will also need longer u-bolts for the rear axle. I dont recall the size I went with, but if I can dig up my receipt later, I believe it's on there.
I purchased the tcase drop, shocks, and ubolts at the same time, from a local 4 wheel drive shop (Tarheel Four Wheel Drive, in Charlotte). Got them all together for a very reasonable price. I would highly suggest you shop around at some of the 4 wheel drive shops in your area, in addition to comparing them on the internet.
If you have any more questions, feel free to PM me and i'll give you my e-mail address.

Lift looks good, and a nice clean XJ!! What did you use in the rear lift blocks and longer shackles?
Yup, blocks and longer Shackles. I'm really happy with how it turned out.
