Hey guys, it has been a while since I have been on good ol NAXJA, but I need help with something. I don't know if this has reached here yet but someone started something that I believe could have a huge impact on the oil companies if the word is spread as far as possible. Basically just don't buy gas on June 6th 06. Like I said, if the word gets to as many people as possible the more it will hurt those money hungry bastards, so spread the word. Thanks for your time and any help.

im going to forget...and besides, it wont work. one day will not do enough damage because well be right back at the pumps june 7th

If you advertise what you plan to do, they will raise the price beforehand to offset the losses.

I try to not buy gas on any given day anyway, so I'll try to remember June 6th

OMG 06/06/06 THE DATE OF THE BEAST!!! IT'S AN NWO PLOT IN CONJUNCTION WITH THE REPTILIANS AND BLACK HELICOPTERS TO GET US TO BUY TWICE AS MUCH OIL ON THE 7TH!!! GET YOUR ALUMINUM FOIL DEFLECTOR BEANIE NOW BEFORE IT'S TOO LATE!!!

:D

if i dont spend my $20 on gas on the 6th, i will spend it on gas on the 7th, cause i will still need gas. if 1000 people dont spend their $20 on gas on the 6th, we cheat the gas companys out of $20,000! oh wait, no we wont because everybody will just buy their gas the next day or the day befor the gas companys still get their money, just a day later. is there somthing im missing?

Watch out for gas prices to go up on the 5th.

You mean like on every other day for the past four months? :D

Something like that. Yeah.

They'll get even higher on the 7th.

Hell. Might as well raise them on the 6th, as well. Just for those who weren't paying attention.

now that i think about it gas goes up every day, so if i put off buying it im really screwing myself out of a extra nickle per gallon a day. what we should do is to over to the oil companys buldings with a hose, and siphon the gas out of the exectutive's cars, its probobly premium too!

lol i havent gotten that email lately either. i figured most people were smart enought to know this does nothing but alas i see people are still gonna try it. yep dont by gas on the 6th and it will go up in price so you have to pay more on the 7th when you do have to fill up. want to hurt the big oil companys? buy a hybrid or walk, bike or use public transportation. hell go electric and get solar cells mounted to the roof of your xj. then you never have to buy gas. convert your heating system over to geothermic so you never have to pay for propane, fuel oil, natural gas, or electricity. hell convert your house over to solar and wind and never pay a power bill again or stay hooked up and get payed for what you dont use. then your not making the power companys supply you with power so they dont have to use fuel or nucular power so then fuel prices will plumit and you will get a tax brake in most states as well as a fedral tax brake.

gas outs are ineffective as most have expressed. Not buying gas from Exxon / Mobile may be more effective but still not much.

You know, this thread has got me wondering about a certain dichotomy:

How many people complaining about high gas prices also own stock in the oil companies?

It seems to me that the increases in the companies' stock value over the past year or so should offset the cost of fuel for their shareholders - and also lessen any desire to see a return to lower prices. Examples: Exxon-Mobil, Shell, BP, Chevron-Texaco. Yes, there have been some drops in those graphs, but as a whole each company is considerably healthier financially than it was this time one year ago.

I would think that the major speculators in oil are the oil companies themselves. Few others would have a bigger stake in fuel prices.

No, agreed - though I think the futures market isn't helping the situation either. I'm just wondering how many of the complainers have actually profited (albeit somewhat indirectly - it's not like the oil companies are sending them a dividend cheque every month, though their brokers may be) from the situation.

I just have a sneaky feeling that speculation has more to with the price than actual shortages.

Again, agreed. What we're looking at here is mostly people betting on how high the price per barrel can go, then making that a self-fulfilling prophecy.

Ever wonder why the legislators don't put a stop to that? It would seem that energy cost would be a national interest.
