Loud (not high flow) The Fast and the Furious is rice. I hope they don't make another one.

The funny thing is The Fast and the Furious 3 is coming out this summer.

I love it, would have been better with a Toyota 2jz, though.

Domestic, carbureted, V-8 engines suck ass. Poor emissions, poor fuel economy, tempermental about elevation and temperature (got vapor lock?), and as a bonus, they're not reliable.

I'll take modern Japanese or German multi-valve, overhead cam engineering any day.

i know this thread is kinda old but just saw those pics for the first time. GAAWDDAMIT! Keep the foreign, non-original motors OUT of classics like that. Yes you can make them more reliable, less fuel, more power but if you want something faster, put that crap in a lighter car and leave the 351 or 426s alone.

I have a 70 GS with the original 350 ram-air. I could have purchased a 455 to make it beefier but I'm trying to keep her original.

Well if they knew about fuel injection and all the technology today then I'm sure they would have used it 40 years ago.

But, they did what they could and they made some fast cars straight from the factory (Ex: my dads 70 hemi challenger).

My mom drives a 440 powered '87 4x4 ramcharger daily (everything else is stock except the 33 inch tires), yeah gas mileage blows but she only drives about 40-50 miles a week anyways.

As for reliability? I think that thing has broken down about once, and that 440 was NEVER meant to be in there either.

Well, I got a '66 Chevelle, that is all original. Don't have to do emissions, gets about 20 MPG on the freeway, and have driven it in the muggy 95*+ temps of WA and never have had a problem. Its very reliable. Has not gave me one problem yet. And I do say yet, because it is 40 years old. Id like to see a non domestic engine run mid 4's in the quarter mile. So V8's suck?
