DMV and anything that goes with it SUCKS BALLS!!!!! The customer service does not help you..there offices are always swamped...

Little of the back story...

Moved back to cali from Illinois... Moved back with a truck i picked up out there... So went to reg it in Cali, spent like 8hours at the dmv, paid 481 bucks, was given plates all that good stuff...

So then this morning i get a letter telling me that there are 2 fourms missing, that THEY have to sign. So i know while i was at the office they did them because one is the Verification of Vehicle were they checked my vin all that.

So i call them see what the deal is... get the run around for the past hour on the phone... "no you need to speak with them" No you should speak with this number."

SOOO after all that... i get told There back logged with processing files from June 8th.... And the one lady finaly told me that the plates i was issued are "NOT VALID!" WHAT!? She then tells me i need to goto the local DMV office to get a temp tag and take the plates off because if i get stopped there not valid... HOW DO YOU AS THE DMV ISSUE PLATES THAT ARE NO GOOD?!?!?! I just gave you 481.00 bucks... to have to drive with non valid plates! Well shit thats good to know 1 hour before i have to leave for work and the standard wait at my DMV is like 3 hours just to get inside!

So i asked her what should i do to drive to work... she said drive with no plates... So what then im now ASKING to be stopped?! This is JACKED up....

So now ima have to take a day off from work to go stand inline at the DMV AGAIN because there back logged.... what is the point of them having an office if the paper work does not get caught up from 2 months ago! So I ask can i run the Illionis plates they still show current registration.. "those plates are no longer valid"...

So now knowing my luck... with all this going on today would be the day i get stopped... Ima just leave my truck at the house and ask my brother if i can take his rubi to work..... :yelclap:

So there is my Rant... and in short XXXX YOU CA-DMV! And XXXX YOU Governor for jacking the budget up so bad that furlow after furlow has now screwed all your people! GoodLuck getting re-elected! You Dont have my vote! :puke:

Are you a AAA member?

I do all my dealings with the DMV through AAA.

Yep, DMV is always swamped. It took me 3 hours to have my license changed and renewed.
From what I was told, AAA isn't a full service place, I tried having my plates renewed.

Wait till you get health care at the DMV!!

I called up AAA one time I believe to have my plates changed from MI to CA, they said they don't do that there. I also believe I asked if I could renew my plates there and I don't think they do that either.

You can put the old plates on and take your chances. You are supposed to register your vehicle in CA withing I thing 30 days of moving here. A cop could cite you for not transferring the reg but I think most would let it slide if you're cool with them. PM me the CA plate number they gave you and I will confirm if it shows up valid.

I think it might be as short as 10 days after moving. I know they registered my Jeep for July when I went in Dec when I first moved. They only could get me for then because I tried being a car salesman and that required a CA license...

How would they know how long you have been there?

well, maybe I'm just lucky, but whenever I get my tags, I get a little piece of paper that says my vehicle is registered. If you don't have tags on that shiny new plate on the rear stating the month and year of registration, they're pretty much pointless anywho.

Otherwise, I don't think any cop is gonna ticket you or impound your vehicle when you have documentation stating you paid money to register your vehicle and received authorization from the DMV.

If it were me, I'd drive with the current plates, and if I were pulled over, I would tell the officer the situation and provide him the documentation up front.

As for the wait, have you tried making an appointment? Usually, that's only like a 10 minute wait, and you don't have to wait in line to get in if you have an appointment. Every office I've been to from Orange county to Chula Vista has one old lady that takes appointments while all the other morons, myself included, stand in line in the god awful heat just to get a ticket to wait more. =)

I dont care much for the DMV system here either, but I have no choice atm as I have to stay here. I am sure they will get things fixed somehow for you, it just is too bad that you have to waste all that time to fix it (which a lot of people dont value anymore).
