Extension cord question

So I've been on limited power in my rented garage for about 3 weeks now. By limited I mean a 250 ft 8 gauge extension cord wired right into the main panel. I've got an engine skid to reinstall in the next few days and would really like to weld some angle to it to beef it up a bit but am not sure if it's really a good idea to run the welder off the cord. It's a Miller 211 MVP and the factory manual says I can use a 53 foot 14 AWG cord but I'm not sure of the conversion to the 8 AWG. Hope this isn't a stupid question. TIA

You'll be fine, may need to adj the welder a bit to compensate!

You will be just fine as long as you don't get a hernia from lugging the cord around. That has to be one heavy coil.
