Wed I did some work preparing parts to be swapped into the jeep.
1. I laid 3 short beads on each side of the pumpkin to the axle tube to help those little plug welds. Here's a pic of the rear axle (btw the 35 is a temporary thing, but it has 4.11's to match the front 30, so it will stay till I find something better).
2. I did the same on the long side of the D30.
3. On the 30, I have also reinforced the UCA bushing mount as well as added protection/extended the trackbar mount on the axle end. I have also welded the insides of the LCA mounts to the tube.
4. Lastly I have reinforced the towhook brackets to help prevent the bending out of the lower mounting surface on side pulls. I have added a piece of slightly bent plate to add a fifth "dimension" to help box it. I'm wondering though if I shouldn't box it ALL the way around and just slip a piece of steel vertically down to fully enclose it and get rid of this opening.
I also had to fix a BAD fix of a broken upper hinge on the drivers door. Whoever did it originally, booger welded to the hinge and somehow didn't attach to the sheetmetal at all! It would have been a REALLY easy fix if I could take the doors off (2 of the bolts were stuck on SOLID) but I made do without taking the doors off and cleaned up the old welds as much as I could and welded up to the sheetmetal and then also to a strap that got bolted to part of the sheetmetal to add more beef and spread the load a bit.
