replace those external torx bolts with grade 5 or grade 8 hex head bolts. Those things suck. I had to cut mine out after the helpful step-dad stripped them with a wrench not knowing they were external torx.

where are these torx bolts located, im having the same problem and none of my manuals cover it and i cannot find a pic anyone know where to look.

If you are looking at the bellhousing from below the Jeep they are at about 11 and 1 o'clock.

This might help you. On my '88, one of the bolts also holds the wire clamp for the CPS as is comes up to the top of the engine (driver side). The other bolt was holding the tranny vent tube (pass side). Pretty much right below the back of the head, but hard to see from above.
