So... Trail report for Fordyce.... Thursday morning we heading into Fordyce from eagle lakes around 9a.m. Made it to the first crossing around 11ish... We stopped and looked at a few options and found the left line to be maybe a foot shallower... We'll me being me I decided to take the right which was the deep side... I made it through with no issues but water in my lap. So I get to other side an Kanin asked me if he should go my way... I said hell ya that was sweet... He is a few inches taller than me so figured he will have no issues... We'll this was his first time doing a water crossing so he gets in and hammers down which made him push a lot of water and his intake sucked up water! He almost made it to the other side before his engine threw a rod... I tugged him the rear of the way out and we pulled plugs hoping it was only hydro locked... No go on that. Motor was locked. So now I got the honors to pull him all the way back out which was no fun cuz of steep hills... I ended up frying my winch cuz the cables where rubbing and hit each other which I think blew the motor. Winch will only go in... And won't stop so I had to unplug it... We'll we get him out after 4-5 hours and I tow him on the freeway back at our camp at Cisco grove. Today we jumped in my jeep and drove up to Fordyce lake on the committee trail which is dirt road. We drove down the trail which was fun to the crossing and just hung out for the day... It was a good thing he broke cuz at 12:30 they lowered the level to 30cfm for an hour then it went all te way up to 360cfm which woulda killed us at committee! The water was so deep there today it was crazy!
I'm surprised I didn't break cuz one of the rocky uphill things I was pinned cuz motor was starting to crap out on me... I just had enough momentum and traction I pulled him up this nasty hill with just my jeep! I figured the tcase or something was gonna blow up!
