At our last meeting we decided we want to get together with some of our members in the eastern(E.Wash. E. Oregon and Idaho) part of the chapter. We were thinking of doing a BBQ/camping/wheeling trip on your turf. Sometime in early summer late May or early-mid June.

I want you eastern guys to do the planning. Try not to get to far east. Boise is about a 10 hours drive for most of the guys in the west. Maybe somewhere around Walla Walla or Pendleton.

So get to it and do some planning :)

Is north Idaho too far for you western guys? Thats closer than Boise and is fairly close to most of the eastern washington guys and the few in Montana. I guess it matters more what the oregon guys think.

Do we want to center this (by driving time) around all NW members? if so how far is everyone from somplace like the tri-cities (kennewick, richland, pasco) jusat a place to start. then we can move it N,S,E,W from there.

I'm in the Tri Cities all the time, I just don't know of any trails there but I'm sure someone does. We do want to wheel at this thing right?

We probably want to wheel, something Mild/medium. I am not sure whether most of the guys from the west will come over Friday night or Saturday morning.

I lived in tri-cities for about a year, there's really nothing there but some sand dunes which may be shut down now. I led trail runs from the tricities to Naches pass since it was the closest place, there are trail in the blue mountains around walla walla but i don't know any of them.

Speaking of sand dunes anybody up for that? in say moses lake?

Yeah, I think somewhere around the Moscow, Pullman area would be good. There are trail that everyone could have fun on. I wouldn't mind trying out some dunes with my new gears and lockers and my stroker though. But I like the slow stuff more.

Sounds good to me CW how far is this from you?

im up for it if i can Get the jeep street worthy. i don't have a trailer and even if i did im not sure my POS tahoe would pull it. Hell id probably have to pull the tahoe home with the XJ.

I'm for it depending on the date. Moses lake and Pullman are both within a couple of hours of me. Never been wheeling around Pullman-Moscow. Been to the sand dunes quite a few times, lots of fun if the winds not blowing.

Bryan.

How is the planning coming along? Pullman/Moscow sound like great central area to meet.

good question.

I'm up for pullman, do we have some local XJer's there that can show us around? where to stay, where and where not to eat, etc.

We need to come up with a location to have this. The places to wheel I know down that way are a good hour from moscow, which wouldn't be too bad if everyone was willing to do it, there are a couple restauraunts on the way or we could just have lunch on the trail. Thats just my suggestion. Everything comes down to what you western guys are willing to do. since you have the largest distance to travel. Hopefully we can actually get a run going over here though, the last few attempts never got anywhere.
Here are couple of pics from some trails around Elk River to give you guys an idea. These trails change a lot though so maybe a quick run a week or two before the meet and greet would be needed to scout out the trails we want to run.

I guess the real question is time. Are guys going to come over from the west friday night? or Saturday morning.? I am not sure maybe some others will give their opinion.

Nice pics by the way :)

Is this jus a one day deal? or both sat & sun. And how tough are the trails, can a stock XJ run it? If not what's the chance of breakage? I've never run anything around there and i don't want to drive that far and not be able to make it home. Ive got D44/D60 so im not worried about too much but others might be.

The only things Iv'e ever seen break on these trails were a front axle cv joint on a GC that was going out anyway and I broke a badly worn tierod end. A couple bent dif covers have happened also but were easily fixed. A stock xj would need rocker protection if you care about the body, there are a few trails that would they would probably need to sit out on but anything with 31's should be ok. Is anyone planning on bringing a stocker? The trails can be planned around whos coming. We need more input on the number of days people want to do this for.

I live in moscow...I have been wheeling a little bit around here..and I know the local 4x4 club here(i think cw is a member of them as well) go out around tinsed a lot.
I have been up outside of potlatch..thats about 20 or so minutes from moscow..The trails get tight as i have taken off both my mirrors pretty much..I can talk to some other local people and see where they wheel around here...there are lots of places though for sure.
another place is Sunflower flats OHV park outside of Heppner oregon..its about 4.5 hours from me..4 or 4.5 hours from Portland..I know im not really a member..but all this is pretty close to me..so..they have camping stuff, fishing ponds and all that jazz..crawl pits..rock crawls and trails..the trails are pretty leisurely..the rock parts are..well. hard. ehhee
I dont know if im invited, but i would love to go out with you all if you're in the area..if im not invited i'll just lurk and then follow you around..ehehe :-)
