dummy pedal?

i think he could be talking about the piece of plastic on the carpet to the left of the brake pedal thats the shape of a pedal

Thats what a dead pedal/dummy pedal usually is. A piece of plastic attached to the floor in some way, but elevated off the carpet. And I still don't know what you would be referring to that came stock.

i dont have my carpet anymore but i thought there was a piece of plastic that wasnt elevated off of the carpet.

ill see if i can find a picture of what im talking about

No dummy pedel but I would like to have the bright switch down there

I put mine down there, just like the old fords. Drives me nuts when I drive the wife's, hers is still stock.

the left foot rest came standard in my '94 XJ Limited ( export model delivered in Australia)

Its a right hand drive right? I have seen them in right hand driver, but forgot about that.

And it would be nice to add a bright switch down there.. especially with the goofy push forward for the beams on the stalk.

my 96 doesnt have one but its a bare bones model. my 08 altima does and i like to rest my foot on it when im on long trips. i wouldnt mind one in my xj.

I wish my manual XJ had one.

I'm way too tall for that, I put my foot down where it's comfortable and it ends up on the carpet where one would mount.

Personally, for style points (and for confusing anyone who borrows your XJ) I would do as Joe said and put in a manual pedal assembly, then weld or bolt the clutch pedal into the most comfortable position.

"dude, why does your Jeep have a clutch pedal, it's automatic! wtf?"

My E36 had one, and it was a manual. While the pedal was nice at times, I didn't think it was safe for it to be there. I don't think I'd put one in an auto just because I might think it was a clutch :)
Flat on the floor is comfortable for me, and I drive the auto with both feet alot anyway.

i think it would be nice, but my big dog size 14's don't fit past the brake pedal....haha. I wouldn't trade my big feet or my XJ for anything, though...:D

haha i have sive 14W and when i wear my boots and drive my moms 08 G37-S it is nearly impossible to try and push the clutch in without touching the brake pedal lol

Size 14s here too... my foot fits by the brake pedal just fine. Maybe I have more space because my floor pan is rusted out enough that my carpet is stretching some or something...

My Accord has one... I've never mistaken it for the clutch, its just a comfortable place to rest my foot.

Because its there on my DD, my foot goes off the clutch to where it should be, then floats on the XJ because there's nothing there.
