drive shaft ???

My front drive shaft will move a bit right in the middle where the big part meets the smaller part. Is this normal or perhaps some thing that is common?

It seems to be able to move side to side and up and down. About 1/16 of an inch of wiggle. But it moves (wiggles) right where the two parts come together. There is a grease zerk there.

I jsut got back in from doing a grease job on the Cherokee and found that it took about 15 pumps of the grease gun to fill that zerk on the drive shaft. Now it feels very tight. I cannot wiggle it any longer, can this be possible? That it was just out of grease?

The shaft should have some play,in the 0.03-0.08 ,or so not to be measured in inches 1/16-1/8".The lack of grease in the slip/spline area contributed to the wear.
This slip/spline area can be replaced at a good drive shaft shop for around $80.
