‘01 Exhaust Leak

Hi,

I have an ‘01 XJ with the factory dual cat setup on the exhaust. This exhaust has a small leak coming from the flange where the exhaust pipe meets the manifold.

To my understanding, there is no longer a donut gasket included where the flange meets the manifold after ‘00.

I was curious if anyone knows of a donut gasket or similar gasket that’s available that would help resolve this small leak?

I used this gasket when I replaced the pipe after the cat when a flange weld cracked.

Be sure to be prepared for broken bolts, I had a great time with mine. Those northeast winters are not kind to that exhaust hardware

@Owl2059 thanks. I was mistaken. It’s actually the 2 bolt flanges where my leak is occurring from where the cats meet the exhaust manifold.

It’s metal to metal but i was wondering if anyone knows of a gasket that may fit there to solve the leak.

Have you tried tightening the bolts? Mine seem to back off pretty often, even with Loctite. If there is a leak there, the bolts are loose or there is a crack. You could also try some of this stuff:

I put new hardware on the collector pipe flanges. The leak is better but i will need to tighten when the engine is cold. Thanks!
