Door question

As many know, I mashed in my passenger side front door on my 1988 XJ in Harlan last year. Well I've kinda been poking around for a decent door and found one that is pretty nice.

The question is my door is power. Are there any differences in the wiring plugs for a 1988 and a 1993 door? I didn't remove the kick panel from the '93 so I don't know if it is the same.

I got to checking to see what tools I'd need to remove a door and the next thing you know, my passenger front door is sitting on the shop floor.

Once I can identify the connections, I'll run this Saturday and remove the donor door.

I'm pretty sure that I disconnected 3 plugs, a big, medium and small one.

One thing I've learned about Xj doors is that you only need 2 big ones ;)

And I've never swapped power guts, only ever put manual guts in place of dead power guts. Confuses folks to have both the switch and the crank...

I'll get a couple of pics for you of the power connectors on my 93 power front doors and post them for you in a few minutes.

Sorry it got hectic before I had to leave for the airport and never got around to getting the pictures. I do know that there is 3 connections, a big one with round pins, a medium one that I believe is 8 pins but only partially used, and a small one. I believe the big one is for windows, medium for locks, and not sure what the small one is.

If it's a 2 pin square one its for the stereo speaker.

Ed, they are different as far as the plugs. Now the good news is that you can swap the power guts into a manual door and vise versa. Drill the rivets where they apply and replace with a similar size shallow machine screw and nut with some licktite.

So the plugs are different from a 1988 to a 1993. That stinks but it is neat to know that I can swap in the guts from my old door. Everything there is good, just slow.

If you squirt lithium grease or some kind of lube in the metal screw sheath thing while running the regulator up and Down, it will help everything move
Faster. I did it to my old jeep, and my vw(manual) and both of them work good as new, or at least the jeep one did until all the windows got melted out of it :(
