My 88 XJ will open 3 out of 4 door locks with the remote fob. Same when I use the door lock switch from inside. Just cannot get the only one I use, the passenger door right behind the driver, to work without having to reach in and unlock by hand. Any idea where to start/what might be keeping only 1 from working?

Clean and lubricate the locking and latching mechanisms. Use throttle bottle cleaner and a CLP gun oil. Make sure the wires are delivering full voltage and have a good ground with low résistance. Make sure the lock/latch operating rods are not bent, or getting interfered with.
