Is there a good/any place to get DOM in the bay area?

Sierra Chapter just needs to do a group buy. It's simple the more weight the better the break. In most cases it doesn't all have to be the same material. Some company's will even deliver to your door, well at least to a buisness address.

We would need to buy about a ton to get a decent discount and they would have to be in full lenths.

If we could do that then we could probably call, Marmon Keystone, American Metals (Fresno), American Steel (West Sac), Modesto Steel. Any of these companys can get anything we would need. Like I mentioned it's the weight that matters.

This is just a thought, but the weight is where it is at. ;)

It's true, but it's not really worth it unless everyone's planning cages or buggies.

Not really, Rect tubing for bumpers, skids, rock rails and/or LA's like your doing. We have a Treasure to keep the money until we can put an order together big enough. Even a 1,000#'s it's better than a couple sticks. It would take some coordination and of course we would need the money up front and patience until the order can be made.

Quotes are free, I'd say lets start a thread on what everyone needs and see if there is enough weight to do a group buy. Unless everyone is in too much of a hurry. :)

I thought you meant just DOM, but you may have a good point w/ the rect. tubing and all. I say, start the thread.

I called Marmon Keystone last week. I got a quote for 200' of 1.75x.120. They quoted me 1.76 a foot. That was the price to pick it up (they have a wharehouse 200 miles north of me). You have to set up an account to purchase from them, but maybe your chapter or even the NAXJA in general can set up an account. They are sending me the paperwork to set up an account for myself. They will set up an account for individuals, it doesn't have to be a business.

If this group buy goes down I am in for a large order. I need material for my cage plans and my buddy has a tube buggy on the drawing boad. His drivetrain and axles will be done this winter and bending should begin early spring. Did this by chance get discussed at all at last nights meeting?
