I need to replace part or all of broken sky's extreme adjustable lower control arm.

Do I need to jack up my xj to take pressure off the arm to remove it. . If so where do I need to jack it up. . Or can I just undo the bolts in front and rear and take it out.

I would lift the Jeep. I wouldn't want the Jeep's axle to move while you are working on it. To lift it, find a flat space on the frame rail. You might need a piece of 4x4 wood or something if your Jeep is lifted. Remember to block the rear wheels so your Jeep doesn't roll.

if you completely chock the wheels, you can just unbolt the arm without jacking it up. leave the tire on and everything. you only need to mess with two bolts. it makes it very easy.

When I was checking the joints and bushings on mine I just pulled the bolts and pulled them out and reinstalled them one at a time (all 4). If you're changing/fixing parts if you don't mess with the vehicle: move it, kick the tires and so on, you will be able to easily adjust the length to same length as before :D

It's much easier to leave it on the ground when replacing control arms, either upper or lower. I've done it many, many times by myself without jacking it up. Jacking it up just puts things in a bind unless you also remove the coils. When you get ready to bolt the control arm back up, lay on the ground and push on the tire to line up the bolt holes. Of course, only do one arm at a time.
