dimond cut headlights?

no need for him to. It looks like this:

LOL! And that for twice the price of Autopals. Nice.

I'd rather run OEMs for two reasons.

1: That poorly focused light with all the dark spots would be annoying, especially when taking a corner hard.

2: Unacceptable glare to oncoming drivers.

Both of my Jeeps sport OEM sealed beams right now because I'm too lazy to make harnesses. I have a set of Autopals for the '96 now and plan to do the same for the red Jeep. They will sport white 55/100 H4s in them, not purple, blue, green, or rainbow lights, I don't need to pretend I have HID.

My autopals have a sharp cut off too and the trangle shape light on the right side of each light that I like because it light up the banks and road signs also help to see deer comming off a bank of standing along a fence

I run the IPF H4 housings, and they are awesome, yes they cost more than Autopals but the glass is thicker and more durable also.
For now I am just running some cheapo xenon blubs that I got with the housings from quadratec.
I will be installing a new headlight harness soon. There is one "putco" brand on amazon/ebay that looks to have thicker wires than the eautoworks harness. For about the same price.

That "made for an XJ" harness isn't made for an XJ either.

Does it fit well, though? I just installed 3 upgraded harnesses last weekend on my 90 MJ, wife's XJ, and daughter's XJ.

I got the pre-made harness with relays from www.eautoworks.com. It's the one listed for the H4s. Fit like they were made for it. I got the install down to 1/2 hour on the last one.

Is the other harness a must when changing to the autopals or another style light?

Perhaps think of it this way. The headlamp circuit in our XJs is marginal at best and due to the resistance in the circuit and running power through the headlight switch, is prone to melting plugs at the switch and sometimes the switch itself.

A new switch costs about $25 and is quite inconvenient when it fails. You know that time, when you have your headlights on cuz you need them?

Our headlights are not as bright as they could be simply because fo the above mentioned poorly engineered wiring harness. Adding the upgraded harness, at a cost of $20 and an hour labor, to your Jeep will improve the performance of your stock headlamps and eliminate the possibility of a melted switch and/or plug.

After installing the harness, decide which lamps you would like to upgrade to.

For later model XJs I'd put in a harness even if you plan to stay with OEM sealed beams. Renix era weren't as bad with the voltage drop but could still use a harness. I need to build one for both of my Jeeps, I plan to run 55w/100w in them, OEM wattage on low beams (don't need more light there really) with brighter brights.

You mean the later models are worse than Renix era? Renix era Jeeps were pretty bad. That's what I just installed the 3 harnesses on to.

Yes.

My OEM wiring on my '89 (and the '88 I used to have) gives me better light than on my '96.

so if I have a harness out of say an 88 it would be better on either of my 93 or 00 XJ's rather than stock. And if I was to make a harness what material do I need for such thing cause the price on some of those that were mentioned are a little costly

I'd suggest making it yourself.

No can-do on putting hte Renix one in, by the time you got it in you'd have already built one.
