dexronIII question

okay im planning on doing a tranny fluid change soon but what brand produces reliable dexIII?

the dexIII licenses expired in 2006, so theres no real regulation of it right? so any brand could claim that their ATF is dexIII/merc?

where do you get yours from?

Unless you are buying DexIII that was made under license two years ago, anything labeled DexIII will be a "compatible" formula as determined by bean counters

You're over thinking this. Dex III is Dex III, Dex IV is new Dex III etc.

Castrol, Valvoline etc. It's not a Ferrari.

If it's an AW4 and it says Dex/Merc III, IV, V(?) think yes.

If it says ATF, think no.

Yeah anything that is called Dexron VI will be licensed and there is only like 1% wiggle room in the formula. I use Pennzoil Dex VI for some reason that I've since forgotten.

I got a 99 that I put dexron 4 in and substituted a quart or so of the dexron with lucas oil ATF fluid. it makes the tranny run real smooth there is def. a noticeable difference when it shifts. no so hard, plus i guess that lucas oil stuff helps gaskets and everything inside the tranny.
