I have some thoughts on doing a run next year here and I thought I would post some photos of a recent trip to see if there is interest. Enjoy.

Mike are you thinking along the lines of a scenic backroads tour or doing some of the more tech routes like stuff done at Panamint Valley Days?

I haven't gotten into the details yet and I have a lot of time to plan it so we can get some of the best stuff in for a weekend run. Some will depend on the time and weather conditions at the time. My thought is that there isn't much that a stock Jeep couldn't do. The only thing I know for sure is everyone will have to bring extra gas if they want to come because of the long distances driving on dirt roads and the lack of available gas.

One question, are you talking about a regular stock Jeep, or one that Marisha is driving that can go over anything?

You know it's the driver not the Jeep right?

It's not the vehicle but how you drive it.

That's a great trip. I've ran it a couple times go into Saline, Death, and Butte. Takes a good three, four days if you want to enjoy it. There's alot of neat stuff sceanery and history out there. Like he said gas is a must. I've ran through there gone through a 20gal. tank 2 5gal jaeery cans and was sputtering as I rolled into the closest gas station. I'd like to go back haven't gone in a couple years.

There's a couple of different theories. One being that during the winter time the lake bed gets a shallow cover of water that freezes then the winds come along and push the rocks. Here's a good write up on the theory:

I've wanted to make a tour of Death Valley and Saline Valley for quite a while, but have never gotten around to doing it. I'd be up for a long weekend trip with friends.

Hey Mike, where is that marble tub? I've seen it on the map and heard about it but always wondered if it really exisists.

Funny we were looking for it because of the Southern California Trail guide but didn't find it. We were headed up Steel Pass. We stopped for lunch at the hairpin turn just before we hit the top valley. Someone just hiked up the little canyon a short distance and found the Marble Tub by accident.
