Possibly a 30 in the video but only on 36's and a very greasy hill climb. I have seen that jeep and I swear it was a 44... and I know that it currently does not have a a D30 ... It has a waggy 44.

JP Mag did an article a while back where they took an HP D30 and built it to the 9's and flogged it with 38s. Truss, Detroit, heavy mounts etc.... Their point was the 30 was not a bad axle and well polished did not fear 35s... If I remember they did do a couple of shafts while on 38s but did not break the Detroit or the R&P

I've seen several guys run properly built 30's with 36's and never break a thing. If there was a 36 I liked, I wouldnt hesitate to run them on mine.

On my current setup, I'd consider trying a less sticky 37 (MT/R's probably) if I didn't have concerns about 37's and 4.88 gears on the highway with a 22 year old 4.0.
 
A big reason my d30 held up was there was no flex in the housing at all and short of a girdle cover it was not going to flex and break parts.

I still don't think a d30 is worth spending a ton of money on unless you are going to run 35's max and know when to take it easy. If i had to keep a d30 i would run 33's
 
Do you know what kinda exhause that the silver xj was running it sounded mean. I just wanna run 35s max and I will be running yukon shafts want that help if I take it easy
