DAMIT

South Bay Driveline not gone. They did move their bussiness though. When I was at The Tank last week I checked and moved to Almaden Ave. They have a sign posed infront of the building. I will get the actual address next time I am there.

Funny as hell picture. I just did not know you went on a Safari in Africa.

Fianlly got the Insurance settled. I ended up getting more than I thought I would which is always good. I am driving out to Sacramento on Monday to pick it up. I will create a new thread regarding parting it out.

Thanks to a couple of good buddies I was able to go out and pick up the Jeep today. It was actaully A LOT easier than I thought it would be thanks to a Giant Fork Lift that had 10 Foot Forks  With the Battery dead and not sure if it would start I was ready to swap in a battery and winch the Jeep up onto the trailer. A worker at the yard jumped in teh giant fork lift and picked up my jeep and put it on the trailer. I was so stoked. Then when we got home I just rolled it off the trailer.

Here are some pix I took in my driveway (Poser shots - hahaha)

My friend who drove down with me to pick it up has a machine shop and does all sorts of metal work. He has built a few cages and we were talking about what to do with the XJ. I was on the fence about possibly cutting off the top and turning it into a trail rig. That is untul I sat inside to back it off the trailer. The driver side of the hump above the tranny has a huge bulge. Not sure if the Tranny smacked into it or if the unibody somehow buckled. Not an expert on such things so I have no clue. Needless to say that made up my mind about stripping it and building my wifes rig. Also thought about what a couple of the seasoned wheelers said on the Swamp Run. They said how cool it would be to have a rig set up like mine and Aaron's (windows that roll up, A/C). Hopefully I will have my wife's Jeep, well now mine, by May 2010 (in time for DV).

In other news, we got her a 2005 Ford 500 Sedan with about 55,000 miles. She didn't want another SUV. Really nice car and we got a great deal on it.

I am going to start a new thread in the For Sale section for those who wants parts. So far Crazymoose wants the doors pieces and Ben wants the Tranny.

I want all your lenses to brake, turn ,marker. And maybe window regulators if they any good. They look like they could be screwed up. Any how i will help for whatever you may need

This really makes me think i should have a fully exo caged rig. As much as im not a fan of the look sure would save my jeep in a roll over.

I think with the two recent roll overs and CAPT Nemo's flop last season the important thing to remember is save your life...Jeep's are replaceable.

Mark,
Are you & Arron going to opening night? or Moab?

Tom

I'm with you there Tom - Life is way more important than a rig. BUT an Exo would have been REALLY nice (my head and neck wouldn't hurt so much).

YES we are - that's my B-day :-) Want to meet up for a beer?

Not going to Moab (obviously). Maybe next year.

Yeah this is true but no one has been seriously hurt thankfully. And as everyone knows it takes a huge amount of work to start over. Not to mention the cost involved. And im sure it would add strength to your unibody also helping to save your life. That's all that i was trying to get at.

Not going to the 1st two home games. Not a tough decision, my 83 year old father is going to Fall Fling with my sister, so I'm going too.

I think that last event had a curse on it. First Clayton, 2 weeks later yours ends up on the roof wheels and I yard saled my Baja bug the same weekend and ended up with a broken back...lol

Glad you and your boy made it out unscathed.

Get a couple of dorrs and wels a new top on it Mark, little body work and its good as new.

Eric

Yeah it could have had a curse, the morning after I got back I went outside and found my daughters car was stolen. We got it back after 2 weeks but it cost me $600 and 6 hours of my vacation time.

Wow Eric - are you going to be able to make Baja? How did it happen?

Yeah I am glad we are all ok. I have a clean rig waiting for the parts :-)

I am parting it out minus the suspension and axels so let me know if you want anything....

I blew a turn after a blind rolling hill and wound up hitting a wall/ravine at a little over 70. My lap belt and my arms wanted my body in the car, but my mid/lower back wanted to go thru the windshield...

Back on my feet, I just cant lift anything heavy (makes taking a leak hard...hahaha) I'll be 100% come Baja time.
We've been prepping the race Jeep since I got back from the Sierra Fest. Changed a bunch of stuff. Put the fuel cell under the car which allowed us to basically redo everything on the inside.
I'll be posting a full prep story in the Jeepspeed section later this week

Mark, glad you got your settlement all worked out, looks like you came out pretty good........not counting all the labor and hassle, of course. Sounds like your wife will be happier with the car.

Eric, what a bummer about your crash and your back, hope there are no lingering complications. You've been really working on the XJ, I'll watch for your rebuild thread.
