Daisy's build up

well, the other one got deleted, probably due to low-traffic thread purging.

any way, this is the recently dubbed "Daisy" [shes got a wonderfull @$$; daisy duke]

this project started with a jeep that i picked up for 150 bucks [title and everything] the exhaust was shot [and im probably picking up a flowmaster muffler for it since the one i have for it is pretty old too..] and the battery was shot.

there was a hole in the hood from where the P.O. had to cut because he needed to jump it [the hood latch assembly was rust-frozen]. i fixed that in about two minutes after removing the fascia and the retaining assemblies.

the pics kind of speak for themselves, but its an '88 with the 4.0, auto, np231. dana 30 vac, dana 35 [:gonnablow ]. it started tan, then black, now white. and its getting 30x9.5s this week.

then i had to do some MAJOR sheetmetal work, and sand the whole thing down, and put some bondo on where it needed. [the wood plank on the hood was covering a hole about the same size...]
here are some pics of that work.

and the temporary bench seat, because i needed to find REAL ones...

the engine is in the process of being completely rebuilt, to hopefully acheive 20-25 mpg.

after the winter, i painted it black, thought it looked cool, but i repainted it white recently. the rest of the pics speak for themselves.
Thanks for looking
Travis

the most recent

ive been trying to decide between white and black flares, i think ive finally decided that black looks better, i think white would look too gaudy...
well, here they are.

what do you guys think, does the black look ok?

Looks like the project is coming along nicely. How much $$ and time do you have in it from the initial purchase?

i estimate the total cost at 150 + [~]210. i estimate another 150 or so extra after i get her up and running [more if i need to replace the starter and/or alternator.

the battery already needs replacement..

not bad though.

oh, and if i can get a cheap [professional] clearcoat job, ill have to add that to the misc. category...

Rocklander your budjet build has turned out to be really pretty nice, I hope I can find a cheap XJ like that to make my DD.

yea, im now deciding on whether i want the black strip on the bottom section of the doors and sliders...

gotta get my exhaust system welded back together and the motor filled with fluids. then sheel be released for her maiden voyage [again].

Looks great man. I'd look into clear coat sooner rather than later...if not, that white paint will get chalky in the sun and heat, and everytime it gets wet, it's going to run and will ruin it all in short order.

Great job on getting it together though!

I say go forward with the black on the bottoms of your doors and rockers, that way it would be a unified black 'skirt' all around the bottom.

you sure did put time and effort into her, looking great so far, and for cheap!

respectable indeed.

Asthetics are DONE!! at least outside.

got the 30x9.5s on the 5 spokes, and they look great.
