d-30 axle shaft question

i am converting my vac. d-30 to a non-vac. i have the new shafts, but where does the seal go on the pass. side? does it go in the tube where the original one goes for the vac.- 2 piece shaft style goes or does it go by the carrier?? please help!!---BRIAN

the conversion seal goes beside the carrier bearing... I ground my tube out (+3mm IIRC) to accept a latemodel/non-disco seal, but the easier way is to get one that matches ID/OD and set it in place.
